Canaries look at Mettomo

Norwich City have handed a trial to Cameroon international defender Lucien Mettomo.

The ex-Manchester City stopper is available on a free transfer after his contract with Bundesliga outfit Kaiserslautern expired.

Canaries boss Peter Grant is thrilled with Mettomo's credentials, but is wary of his lack of fitness.

"Lucien is out of contract and we are taking the opportunity to have a look at him," Grant told the club's official website.

"He comes with great credentials having played at the very highest level, but one thing he is short of is match fitness.

"We'll assess the situation and make a decision on him over the course of the next few days."

Norwich have ruled out an immediate move for Cameroon international Lucien Mettomo following his trial with the club. The former Manchester City centre-back is available as a free agent having been released by Swiss side FC Lucerne and spent a week with Peter Grant's team. But the 30-year-old's lack of match fitness meant Grant was unwilling to offer him a playing contract - for now at least.

I only just heard we have turned down Mettomo..due to his fitness
