Canaries too strong for Tigers

Quote:
Hull's bid for Championship survival suffered a setback as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Norwich.

The Tigers had won three of their last four games to move clear of the drop zone, but are now in danger of being sucked back into a relegation dogfight after losing a hard-fought contest at The Kingston Communications Stadium.

Norwich matched Hull for intensity from the start and nearly opened the scoring when Simon Lappin collected possession from a short corner and drew a fine save out of Boaz Myhill.

Hull had their moments and Ian Ashbee's 25-yard effort cannoned off the post after flying past Canaries keeper Tony Warner, but they fell behind after 39 minutes.

Darren Huckerby, a menace throughout, was the man to break the deadlock as he headed home Youssef Safri's corner.

Myhill was furious that the goal was allowed to stand as he felt he had been impeded by Huckerby at his near post, but his protests only earned him a yellow card.

Norwich doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half as Huckerby supplied a cross for Dickson Etuhu to head past Nyhill.

Hull battled back in the closing stages and were rewarded when Andrew Dawson slammed home a 30-yard free-kick after Samuel Ricketts had been fouled by Etuhu.

Dawson's strike set up a frantic finale but Norwich clung on to secure all three points.

Brilliant result 3 points is the main thing and we took them

Huckerby was a dominance force like most games and he even scored with his head which is very rare

we finally moved up to 13th position which is good due to our very poor season

finally looking up for next season!
