Ashton signs extension
Norwich striker Dean Ashton has ended speculation about his future by signing a one-year extension to his contract, which will now run until June 2009.
The 21-year-old had been linked with Manchester City, West Ham and Wigan.
But he told the club's website: "I feel my ambition is matched by Norwich. I'm happy here and am delighted to continue working with Nigel Worthington."
Boss Worthington added: "It shows clearly our intentions - to be promoted back to the Premier League."
Ashton joined the Canaries from Crewe for £3m in January and proved an instant hit with the Carrow Road faithful.
He scored seven goals in 16 Premiership appearances last season and has been the subject of intense transfer speculation since Norwich were relegated.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has admitted he made a £5m bid for Ashton earlier in the week - but it was rejected.
--------------
Great news and finally all this crap about him leaving will finally disappear as it was seriously boring
people may say "contracts mean nothing nowdays" but at least we know Deano will be here for some time
DEANO DEANO DEANO ::nw:: ::nw:: ::nw::

It's just adding another million on to his price tag when he leaves in January.

i have no idea...the guy must be mad or intensely loyal because if he stayed in the premiership he would almost certainly have got to the world cup.
