Dario Gradi insists Crewe are not scared of former striker Dean Ashton, who left Alex to join Norwich for £3m in January.
The 21-year-old will face his old employers for the first time at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
Ashton hit the target eight times in the top flight before the Canaries were relegated last season and has already opened his Championship account, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Coventry.
Asked how many he thought Ashton would score this season, Gradi said: "One hopefully! Obviously we'll have a lot of respect for him but we don't fear him and the players know a bit about him.
"It's not easy but it's nice to be in this league and playing in games like this."

deep down i bet Dario is ****ting himself :P

Leon McKenzie made it one-all five minutes after the restart after the Canaries went in at half-time with a shock one-goal deficit against Crewe.
The Canaries had plenty of chances at Carrow Road, but the visitors struck in the 19th minute through 22-year-old Luke Varney, who was signed two years ago from non-league outfit Quorn FC for a nominal fee.
Towards the end of the half the Canaries had seen at least three good chances go astray or hit the bar from McKenzie and Huckerby.
The Canaries made two changes to the side for tonight's clash with Crewe at Carrow Road as Jason Shackell returned to replace Gary Doherty in central defence.
Simon Charlton, who deputised in midfield in Saturday's draw with Coventry, is on the bench following a toe injury and is replaced by Jason Jarrett, making his Norwich debut. Youssef Safri has recovered from a hamstring problem and is named amongst the substitutes.
For Crewe Dario Gradi was forced into a late change after captain Kenny Lunt went down with a stomach bug, replaced by teenager Gary Roberts.
Norwich: Green, Louis-Jean, Shackell, Fleming, Drury, Marney, Hughes, Jarrett, Huckerby, Ashton, McKenzie. Subs: Ward, Thorne, Charlton, Safri, Colin.
Crewe: Williams, Moss, Moses, Walker, Tonkin, Billy Jones, Vaughan, Gary Roberts, Steve Jones, Johnson, Varney. Subs: Turnbull, Cochrane, Rivers, Higdon, Bignot. Referee: C Penton (Sussex)

I'll have you know Walker Moses Moss and Tonkin is one of the most respected defensive fours in the league!
Not strictly true but they did well Saturday and by the sounds of it today too.
