CITY striker Dean Ashton said he had no plans to jump the Carrow Road ship this summer and was now fully focused on helping to fire Norwich back to the Premiership.
Ashton, City's record signing at £3m, comes face-to-face with his old side Crewe at Carrow Road in the second game of the new Championship season.
And the 21-year-old hot-shot said he fully intended to be around for next season after managing to avoid, on the whole, the sort of summer transfer speculation you would expect for such a bright prospect.
"Of course I'll be here," said Ashton, now coming towards the end of his close season break.
"I haven't heard anything and I've managed to keep my head down and not see too much transfer speculation. I'm fully focused and concentrating on getting back fit for the new season."
And Ashton was hopeful he would not be the only one pledging his immediate future to City's cause.
"If we can keep as many of the players as we can then I hope we can challenge for next season. I don't see why we can't do really well."
Ashton was back home in the north when City's fixtures were announced on Thursday.
It was in the local papers up there he discovered City would be playing his former club Crewe just two games into the news season.
Ashton was yet another successful graduate from the Dario Gradi academy and he admitted it would be strange playing Crewe so soon after leaving them for the bright lights of the Premiership back in January.
"The way they managed to stay up last year was great," he said, clearly delighted his old side had managed to beat the drop.
"The fact we have got them so early is a bit strange but I will really be looking forward to them coming down and playing at our place. Hopefully I can do well and we can get the right result."
And Ashton was also hopeful the travelling support would give him a nice reception.
"I would like to think so," he said. "I really enjoyed my time there, but I think they knew I had to move on. Hopefully they will understand that."
With City set to switch fixtures with Coventry, it could see Norwich playing their first three league games of the season at Carrow Road.
And Ashton for one was pleased with this.
"It means there won't be any travelling!" he said.
