Default Infill latest...

The next stage of Norwich City's development of Carrow Road will be unveiled, ahead of schedule, on Boxing Day, when part of the new £3.2million corner infill will be used for the Premiership clash with Spurs.

There will be 660 seats in the lower tier available, boosting Carrow Road's capacity to 25,009.

That just leaves the upper tier, which is scheduled for completion in March, and the other corner infill, between the Jarrold Stand and the Barclay End, which is earmarked for a hotel development. When completed, Carrow Road will hold 26,000 fans.

City officials had tentatively scheduled the latest opening, for the infill between the Jarrold Stand and the Norwich & Peterborough Stand, for the home match against Liverpool on January 3, but have been able to bring it forward and bring in much-needed revenue.

Each game at Carrow Road this season has been a sell-out and, while 400 of the latest seats will go to people on the 1,636-strong season ticket waiting list, there will be no shortage of takers for the tickets that will go on general sale.

Work on the £3.2m infill began in the summer and will be subject to a December 20 inspection by representatives of the Safety Advisory Group, who have to certificate its safety.

Numbers one to 400 on the season ticket waiting list have already been offered seats for the rest of the season, starting with the match against Middlesbrough on January 22. If they take up the offer they will also be offered seats for the Spurs and Liverpool games.

"We are thrilled that we will be able to offer another 660 supporters the opportunity to watch live football at Carrow Road over the Christmas period," said Andrew Cullen, director of sales and marketing.

"There continues to be an insatiable demand for tickets and we are therefore extremely grateful to RG Carter for giving our supporters this early Christmas present."

City's director of finance and operations, Shaun O'Hara, said: "We had been expecting a delay as a result of the demands in China for steel resulting in a shortage of steel in the UK, so the fact that RG Carter has managed to move this part forward is a real achievement."

Two lads walking down the high street. They see a sign in a chemists window."Free Ipswich Town season ticket" One lad sends his mate in. Fifteen minutes later he appears from the shop with a pack of condoms in his hand. "What the hell did you get those for?!" his friend asks. "I was too bloody embarrased to ask for the season ticket!" he replies.
