Huckerby signs contract extension
CITY are delighted to announce that Darren Huckerby has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the Club until June 2007.
Huckerby joined the Canaries in a £750,000 switch from Manchester City amidst dramatic scenes at Carrow Road on Boxing Day 2003, following a successful three-month loan spell earlier in the season.
He played an integral part in City's Championship-winning season, top-scoring with 14 goals and grabbing many assists as he quickly established himself as a firm favourite with the Norwich fans.
This year he is again the Canaries' leading scorer, with three Premiership goals and one Carling Cup strike to his credit. He has made a total 51 appearances for Norwich to date.
City boss Nigel Worthington told First News: "I'm delighted that Darren has committed himself to Norwich City Football Club, which speaks for itself.
"It's great news for everyone at the Club. It shows the intention for everyone at Norwich City to do our utmost to maintain our status in the Premier League and shows the positive spirit throughout the Club."
Huckerby told First News: "I'm very pleased. I've always intended to stay at the Club longer than my original contract took me to. I've always said it was more important for me to be playing for Norwich City, regardless of what league that is in. Hopefully, it will be in the Premiership."
The former Newcastle, Coventry, Leeds and Manchester City star said the fact he felt so at home in Norfolk was one of the main factors for signing an extension.
"It played a big part," he said. "It's a great place to live and work and I enjoy playing my football here and working with the manager."
Great news shame bout his season so far ...

wot? he is playing super stuff this year - he can't be man of the match - sure he has missed a few, but he has terrorised the best defences in the league,
it wouldn't surprise me if he has been fouled more times than any other player in the league?
do we have any staticians out there?
incredibly good news! hucks is going to help keep us up -
come on you yellows
worthies green and yellow army
super norwich from carrow road
on the ball city
up the premier league we go!!!!!!!!!

If you should unfortunately be relegated then surely Huckerbys attacking skills will be in demand in the Prem. hear o' leary and villa prefer to sign an established striker in january than say bent who is unproven at that level. keep your fingers crossed too good a player to lose.

I've only seen the match of the day highlights and spoken to a few at the game. but......
YET AGAIN - HUCKERBY PROVES HE IS PREMIERSHIP QUALITY.
How many times he went on runs beating defenders inside out!!
HA HA HA the people he say he can't cut it will surely wake up to how wrong they are soon.
He did miss one good chance but otherwsie was superb.

In reply to comments about him leaving, i think hes genuinely loyal, we gave hiom another chance with his career and i think he really likes it here. As for saturday, he was quality, anyone who says he isnt prem quality is just plain wrong. and more importantly hes much better than bent and kuqi.
