Default Newcastle Ready to Offer Shearer New Deal

Skipper Alan Shearer will be given the chance to end his playing career at St James' Park, as chairman Freddy Shepherd is ready to sit down and discuss a new deal for the 32 year old who scored 25 goals for The Magpies' last season.

Newcastle United skipper Alan Shearer could be staying at St James' Park for good few years yet, as The Magpies' are ready to offer him a new contract.
Shearer's current deal runs out at the end of this season, but chairman Freddy Shepherd wants to sit down and open discussions about an extension.

Shearer reckons he can carry on playing in the top flight for at least another two seasons. The 32 year old was concerned that he would have to leave St James' Park, but hopefully now he will be given the chance to end his career on Tyneside.

"Why should we want to let a striker who scored 25 goals last season leave the this club?" said Shepherd.

"Alan is black and white through and through. I don't see why he should wan to play for anyone else.

"We are willing to sit down have talks with him at the earliest opportunity about an extension to his contract."

Newcastle still need Shearer's leaderships and scoring touches. There's still best to come for Shearer at least for 1 or 2 years.
