Default Edmilson on his way

Quote:
Sky Sports News understands Newcastle United have agreed a deal, in principle, to sign Edmilson.

The versatile Barcelona man is currently recovering from knee surgery, but it has not deterred the Magpies from launching a bid.

Edmilson is likely to be out of action for four to six months, having undergone the operation last week.

A Newcastle delegation, headed by manager Sam Allardyce, travelled to Spain on Thursday to hold talks with Barcelona and Edmilson.

It now appears that Allardyce has come to an agreement with Edmilson, who can play at centre-half or in a midfield holding role.

Barcelona are reportedly willing to accept a nominal fee for the 30-year-old, with the Brazilian having 12 months remaining on his contract.

During the trip to Catalunya, Allardyce is also understood to be enquiring about the availability of former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.

I think he suit Newcastle , it's just like Sam to get a player like Edmilson, get best out of him.

And he won't cost them much either.

Edmilson could be an excellent signing for Newcastle but he isn't necessary for Barca after we've signed Yaya. The rumoured price for Edmilson is £4m which is good for both parties.

Edmilson cannot play CB, if you play him CB then you'll die.

Ye CB a no go, some shockers there last season, If Motta leaves as well? aren't you gonna be a bit stretched in that area?

Yes Txiki shouldn't have said that Motta will leave because if Edmilson and maybe Marquez leaves then we'll need to keep him. When Barca also have no DM's they tend to play Iniesta there.

Tons of experience with clubs like Sao Paulo, Lyonnais and Barcelona. He has also plenty of matches for Brazil.

Well, he is 30 and has this knee-injure. But I reckon N'castle not will buy a player that never will be fit again...?

So we're going to sign a player who is going to be out injured for the next six months with no guarantee of a full recovery?

It's a big risk, but this is a typical Big Sam signing; he can be our Ivan "the pirat" Campo.

I'd be delighted if we got him but how can he pass the medical with this kind of injury?

you would have thought that with his height he would be a gd cb, but clearly not. I think he will fit in well with the newcastle team, and hopefully his career can get back on track. Now that Parker has left newcastle he should definitely be first team.

Barton is Parker's replacement. If we sign Edmilson, he will not be in the starting elleven.

I completely forgot that you got Barton. Who would partner him then in the midfield??

Is milner left footed or can he use both feet and therefore play on both wings??

Milner is good with both feets, so he can play at both wings. He's more involved on the right wing though.
