Geremi to Newcastle
BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Newcastle United | Newcastle close in on Geremi deal
Imo he's a better right back than you already have, he'd do a very good job as a right midfielder or a defensive midfielder and if you're absolutely desperate he can even fill in on the left hand side. He's also excellent on set pieces, we didn't use him enough there.
Great character, great team player, good signing for Newcastle.

Great signing, if it happens. Underrated player who's never really had a chance to settle. In the last couple of summers I've been hoping for a Geremi signing.
Hopefully this will be the end of Stephen Carr.
I would be absolutely chuffed if we end June having signed Rozenhal, Geremi, Barton and Viduka for a total of £8.8m.
BTW, how is Geremi as left back, Hanuma?

Good, not mistaking played there in Community shield , did ok, could say he was at fualt for there first goal, more of a lucky thing...
For one of game he be ok, but you don't want him to stay your left back.

Allardyce confirms interest
Quote:
Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in Chelsea utility man Geremi.
Newcastle were linked with a move for the Cameroonian earlier this week and Allardyce is now looking to close in on a deal as soon as possible.
Geremi has struggled to establish himself in Chelsea's starting XI in recent seasons but has made some useful contributions and Allardyce expects to have a battle on his hands.
He told Sky Sports News: "Geremi is something we would like to pursue, but many other clubs in the Premier League will be doing exactly the same thing as Newcastle.
"Hopefully we can persuade him - if we get the opportunity - to join this football club and not the others who will be chasing him as well as us.
"It is a long way from done, but there is an interest there and hopefully we can progress it over the next few days."
Meanwhile, Newcastle have agreed a multi-million sponsorship deal with Carling.
The four-year agreement is one of the biggest of its type in British sport.

Germeni as leftback? I don't hope so.
Geremi will, as mentioned, reinforce Newcastle United.
He has tons of experience from big guns like Chelsea and Real Madrid.
He is also an alternativ the the right midfiel position. You can use him in different positions.
I hope he will arrive.

According to the newspapers, we are hoping to wrap up the deal today. They say that he has passed the medical and will sign a three-year deal. We will pay £2m for his services. I thought he was free, but he is worth the money.

Geremi clinches move to Newcastle
Quote:
Geremi clinches move to Newcastle
Geremi was wanted by a number of Premier League clubs
Cameroon international utility man Geremi has joined Newcastle from Chelsea on a free transfer, subject to receiving a work permit.
The 28-year-old has agreed personal terms and passed his medical.
Geremi said: "I am very, very pleased. This is a big club and a great club, with passionate fans and I look forward to playing for them.
"I was impressed with Sam Allardyce too, with what he has done and his knowledge. It's a great move for me."
Geremi, who can play at right-back or anywhere in midfield, was wanted by several Premier League sides.
Newcastle boss Allardyce has already signed midfielder Joey Barton, striker Mark Viduka and defender David Rozehnal this summer.
Allardyce and his players left for a pre-season training camp in Austria on Tuesday morning, and Geremi could join them provided his application for a work permit is approved swiftly.
Geremi had been at Chelsea since 2003, making 72 appearances for the London club and scoring four goals.
He spent the 2002-03 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough from Real Madrid and had previously played for Racing FC Bafoussam in Cameroon, Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno and Genclerberligi in Turkey.
Geremi made his debut for Cameroon in 1996 and has been capped 60 times.

Its almost for free. He is in his best age (28 too and has a lot of experience - both in La Liga, Premier League and international for Cameroon + Champions League.
He was never the star player many believed he would be, both in Madrid and London, but he is a great player that will reinforce N'castle United. In M'boro...he were outstanding.

The only negative with this transfer is the damn african nations cup. If Cameroon do well, we will miss him in a dozen crucial games.
