Hammers agree Parker price
Quote:
West Ham United have agreed an undisclosed fee with Newcastle United for Scott Parker.
The midfielder has been allowed to move on by new Magpies boss Sam Allardyce who is believed to be targeting Joey Barton as Parker's replacement.
Parker will once again link up with Alan Curbishley at West Ham, with the pair having previously worked together at Charlton.
The 26-year-old left The Addicks in January 2004 in a £10million move to Chelsea, but he failed to make a real impression at Stamford Bridge.
Parker joined Newcastle last summer but his time in the North East lasted just one season as he is now heading back to London.
The Hammers are believed to be paying in the region of £8.5million for Parker's services and have fended off late interest from Tottenham.
Parker will likely be Nigel Reo-Coker's replacement at Upton Park after the West Ham captain handed in a transfer request last week.

If Bolton are willing to sell Nolan I guess Big Sam will get him to St. James Park.

Parker closes on Hammers move
Quote:
Scott Parker has agreed personal terms with West Ham, according to Sky Sports News.
The midfielder was given permission to speak to The Hammers after Newcastle accepted a bid believed to be in the region of £8.5million.
Hammers chief Alan Curbishley is a huge fan of Parker, having shaped his career at Charlton, and it would appear as if the midfielder is keen to link up with his former manager at Upton Park as he is reported to have agreed personal terms.
Sky Sports News have been informed all that stands between Parker and a move to West Ham is a medical, which is expected to take place on Monday.
Newcastle are likely to act quickly to offset the loss of Parker, as Manchester City winger Joey Barton is on the cusp of a transfer to St James' Park.

Parker - £8.5m
Barton - £5.5m
We've been paid £3m to improve our midfield. £3m which will probably pay all if not the majority of Viduka & Ben Haim's signing-on fees. Can't complain at all really.

Parker has completed his move, around £7m apparently.
There isnt much to choose between Barton & Parker, Barton offers more goal threat and passing, but Parker is more disciplined (then again, so is Mike Tyson!).

Our squad is thin now. But I'm not worry, yet. The summer has just started, and Big Sam knows that we are short on several positions.
Barton on 70k! Crazy, if true, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
