Beside the CB's, I wouldn't mind Metzelder, Mahdavikia(if N'Zogbia is off), Viduka and Sidwell.

IMO most of these players could've enter St.James.Park as starting-lineup players or squad players.

But Tel Ben Haim had been a good signing in the defence. Metzelder has signed a contract with an European giant, but he has not given out the name of the club.

Mahdavikia and Basturk are good players while Duscher has been linked before.

Yes, we've both Owen and Martins but Pizzaro is perhaps the striker that N'caslte is missing. He is strong and a bit equal with Shearer. He has a lot of experience and is a much better option than Sibierski. Saviola had been great too, but today we don't need him as we have Martins/Owen.

...and when it comes to Michael Owen....I don't think he'll be the superstriker he once were.

Sidwell is a worker and had been great to have in the squad.

We don't need Timo Hildebrand as we've Given, but I think he has signed for Bayern(?) anyway.

However, all these players are free so there ain't a that big risk. Newcastle United need plenty of keyplayers and squad players to next season.

Can someone tell me what Onyewu's play was like during his time at Newcastle? He is held in very high regard here in the States and it was disappointing to hear the loan to Newcastle not result in him being signed. He seems to possess some of the very characteristics you would want in a defended in the EPL. Curious to hear some feedback from those who watched him week in/week out.

Onyewu was another Boumsong/Bramble. His decision making and passing were shite. He struggled with the ball at his feet alot and made fatal errors that lead to conceding goals.
