I'm happy. The right man at the right time imo. A change was needed, just glad the decision was made at the end of a season for once and not at the start of a new season. Hopefully he could make us a team to be proud of again.

given what he achieved bolton he is the man that can steel newcastle back to quality side worthy for europe

Default Sam expects decision soon

Quote:
Sam Allardyce expects a decision on whether he will be the new Newcastle manager to be made in the 'next couple of days'.

The former Bolton chief has held talks with Freddy Shepherd and is believed to be Magpies chairman's number one candidate.

Talks are expected to continue on Monday and Tuesday and Allardyce has admitted the next couple of days will decide whether he makes the move to St James' Park.

"Obviously there is an interest in Newcastle, where we have had a discussion, and we will see where it goes from there," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.

"It is a lot quicker than I thought and whatever happens in the next couple of days will be vital in terms of what announcement might be made."

Should he be handed the reins at St James' Park, one of Allardyce's first tasks could be to clarify the future of striker Obafemi Martins.

Reports on Monday have claimed the striker declared himself unfit to face Watford and did not return to Tyneside with the squad following the 1-1 draw.

Newcastle have made no official comment on the Nigerian's absence, but it is being claimed the incident has caused some concern on Tyneside.

Press conference at St.James' Park tomorrow. Hopefully it's the announcement of Sam Allardyce. But there are several possible announcement:

- Fat Fred can announce that 'Sam Allardyce was never an option, he has a fat head and smells.'

- "Newcastle United would like to announce that at this time Sam Allardyce is being considered for the vacant managerial position. Thank you"

- Newcastle United are pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Clark and Steve Watson as new chief Geordies. The pair will continue the long United tradition of being Geordies, and Geordieing about around St James Park.

- The reinstallment of Glenn Roeder "After hundreds of text messages to bring him back im doing what the fans want"

Allardyce appointed Magpies boss

Quote:
Sam Allardyce has been appointed Newcastle United manager after signing a three-year deal with the North East club.

Allardyce made a shock exit from Bolton Wanderers on 29th April, and Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd has moved swiftly to install him as Glenn Roeder's successor at St James' Park.

The former Trotters chief arrived in Newcastle by helicopter on Tuesday morning, and met his new playing squad at the club's training ground shortly afterwards.

Newcastle are holding a press conference at 1pm on Tuesday, where Allardyce will be officially presented to the media in his new role.

We have just done our best bit of business in years. Congratulations to the board on getting it right.

Good luck Sam!
Lets hope you will be THE ONE!

Hopefully he will get full control of the dressing down that is needed at the club.

Summary of what he's said so far:

He wants Owen to stay, and will be talking to him in private shortly.

He wants players with the right mentality.

Gary Speed is his best ever signing.

Shepherd persuaded him to come to Newcastle.

Long ball comments are a myth.

He doesn't want the England job.

Big Sam is the best man we could have got at this current time, and I'm confident that he will sort this club out.

He will get rid of the dead wood at the club and replace them with players who will feel its an honour to be given the chance to play for Newcastle, and these may not be big name players but he is very shrewd in the transfer market.

We will have a squad of players who will give their all for the shirt not one full of big time N'Zogbias. No one will be allowed to settle in to a comfort zone now, the likes of Dyer and co.

Big Sam is a confident and at times arrogant man, but in the best way, he is ambitious, his style of play may change, but we will be better for it.

I like his patter, he will not be Freddy's puppet and won't stand for the wasters at the club.

Allardyce: Newcastle my biggest challenge

Quote:
Sam Allardyce admits taking over Newcastle United is the biggest challenge of his career.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "It's huge time in my life. I've made a massive decision.

"If a manager can be comfortable, I was probably in the most comfortable job in the game at Bolton, with the fantastic support I had over the years.

"I repaid that. "And now I've made that big decision to challenge myself, and hopefully I can live up to the challenge at Newcastle United with the right support from the fans and everybody at the club."
