Default Duff delight with Magpies

Quote:
Damien Duff insists he was right to quit Chelsea and admits he could spend the rest of his career at Newcastle United.

The Magpies landed one of the transfer bargains of the summer when paying just £5 million for the Republic of Ireland international.

The winger has quickly settled in to life at St James' Park and the 27-year-old concedes he sees no reason why he would want to leave the club.

"Maybe the gaffer mightn't want me at Christmas, but I have no plans to be moving again," Duff told The Sunday Mirror. "That's me done.

"I love the place already and just want to help get the team going in the right direction and hopefully win things.

"I'm enjoying it here, it's a totally different way of life from London.

"The passion is unbelievable, they are just the most passionate fans in England, they have probably been let down at times, but the expectations are so high.

"Obviously we are not going to be championship contenders this year, but hopefully in the next couple of years we will be.

"That's why I came here, it is a special place to play."

After spending three seasons in and out of the Chelsea side, Duff admits he has no regrets about leaving the Premiership champions.

He added: "I look at Chelsea and I know I was 100 percent right to leave.

"It is as clear as day to me, maybe not to other people, but it is to me.

"I was an emotional wreck and in bits crying when I left Chelsea, but I don't miss it now. I'm loving it here now, I know I made the right decision.

"It would have been all very well going to Liverpool and being in and out of the team and picking up your wages, but I just want to play football and still win things.

"At the moment it is a massive challenge and totally different from Chelsea, but I don't think my ambition will ever dwindle

Seems a bit ambitious >_< but it's good to hear he feels as though he could retire at Newcastle, of course if we decide to hold on to him for that long.
