20-year-old Chopra born in Gosforth, just like Shearer, has been handed the tag of "the new Alan Shearer", but Shearer himself (who partnered full debutant Chopra in Sunday's disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers) feels that Chopra CAN achieve his burden.
He said: "All Michael needs is a goal. At the moment, he is desperate for that first goal, and that can affect you.
"When he gets that first goal, plenty more will follow. It will be a day he and his family will always remember, making his full debut for Newcastle United.
"He had a good day, but it could have been an excellent one. All he needs to do for the first team is what he has been doing for the reserves for the last two seasons."
