Default Luque pleads for playing time

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?h...r+playing+time

Quote:
Newcastle misfit Albert Luque has complained about a lack of playing time under Glenn Roeder.

The Spanish international has endured a nightmare time since being brought to St James' Park earlier in the season by then incumbent Graeme Souness and now, under Roeder, precious little has improved.

An injury-plagued campaign has restricted Luque to just eight starts this term and at £9.5 million, he has struggled to justify his price tag since arriving at the club from Deportivo La Coruna.

Luque, while lamenting his ill luck, has warned the club that he needs playing time especially given that the World Cup is looming on the horizon.

''My injury made it difficult for me to adapt,'' said Luque.

''Then, when I was fit and playing well, along came the new manager.

''He doesn't give me the time I need on the pitch.''

Fucking wasted with cash!.. It's so fucking typical Newcastle....

I think that Luque should be given his chance to adapt to the premiership now that we have nothing to gain, so there will be no pressure on the team. It's a win win situation.
He comes over from Spain with a big reputation and a big fee, plays a couple of games rips his hamstring off the bone and is out for a while, then when he is fit he gets something like an hour over two games and then he is either out of the squad, sent home or on the bench, coming on for the last 10-15 minutes.

His confidence must be shattered!!!!

Not included in the squad for the Charlton game. It's starting to sicken me.

Tbh he is never going to be anything more than a squad player for you.

N'Zogbia is far more suited to playing left wing in a 442 and Luque won't partner Owen as a striker.

In the Prem Luque will only really work as a left sided forward in a 433 or in an Henry type role.

Newcastle United is the injure-club number one, and just some weeks after his enter, he off course got a heavy injure.

I read a good article about Luque some days ago.

First of all, Luque was a panic transfer. Like Viana, no plan. Why buy in Viana when they never played him in the central position?

I don't think Luque fit in, in Newcastle and their formation. In England, they are kicking the ball from the defend to the attackers..and the strikers have to run like shit after the ball. This is not Luques way of playing football at all.

Is he good enough for Newcastle?

He played regular for Deportivo La Coruna. One of the main reasons for the clubs success, both in La Liga and Champions League. He was one of Depor's and Mallrorca's best players and he has been regular for Spain - instead of Reyes. Both Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia was interested in this player.

The problem is Newcastle United. Ameobi, Dyer and even Lee Clark is in front of him. They will not use him.

Well, when Newcastle played ManUtd, Luque joined the match after 45 mins, he could not kick The Magpies to points in a match like this. If he is lucky, he got 10-12 minuts in a match. Its Mission impossible for Albert Luque.

Start using him regular and give him a chance to fit in, or sell him when the transfer window opens.

He has the talent to be a good player....but only as a supporting striker in the 442 system or as a winger in a 433...and that won't happen.

Default Albert Has The Ability

Quote:
GLENN Roeder insists it would be wrong to use Albert Luque too much until the Spaniard is able to fully do himself justice.

The former Deportivo La Coruna man did not make the substitutes' bench for the recent games with Liverpool and Chelsea, and Newcastle United's caretaker boss acknowledges that a bad hamstring injury suffered at the outset of his Toon career has seriously hindered the 28-year-old during his maiden term in England.

Luque has made 17 appearances so far for the Magpies and Roeder told nufc.co.uk: "Albert is out training every day.

"He's disappointed that it's not gone better so far but he feels without doubt that the bad hamstring injury he got has not helped. And it was a bad injury, it was more than a strain, it was a tear, a very bad one as our physios said.

"So he did not get off to the best of starts and there has been a lot of chopping and changing at the club. Some players come from abroad and find it easy to settle in, others can take a little longer.

"Albert is picking up the language slowly, he is getting there and hopefully next year when he's able to integrate more within the squad in terms of talking more with the lads that will help his game."

When asked by the media at Friday's morning's pre-Charlton press conference if Luque has a future at Gallowgate, Roeder responded: "I don't see why not.

"He has been a top player in Spain. He's certainly got the ability, you see it in training no doubt about that. His ability to score goals, pass the ball and receive it is first class.

"He will be the first to admit that he needs to find better fitness and within that I include pace and the running ability that is definitely required in the Premiership.

"He is a hardworking professional and I would like a situation where he is fully fit and focussed and I would use him more but it would be wrong to include him when I don't feel he could do himself justice like I know he can."

"He will be the first to admit that he needs to find better fitness and within that I include pace and the running ability that is definitely required in the Premiership" - Roeder.

Seems like thats the problem, but I cant see why it takes so long time!!! Either Luque isnt working hard enough or the above is just an excuse and something else is blocking for Luque to play...

Default Luque makes Magpies vow

Quote:
Albert Luque has pledged to stay at Newcastle and prove his worth to the side.
The former Deportivo La Coruna star has endured a nightmare first season on Tyneside due to a series of injury problems.
Luque has been strongly linked with a quick return to Spain, but the Spanish international insists he has no plans to leave.
The 28-year-old, who scored his first goal for the club in Easter Monday's win over Sunderland, accepts he has not been at his best this season.
"I am aware of the speculation about me leaving the club and maybe going back to Spain, but that is not in my thoughts," Luque told the club's official website.
"I want to do well at Newcastle United, and I am determined to prove that I am a good player who can help the team.
"I have learned a lot this season, though I know it has not been a good season for me.
"I know I can do much better personally, and I have learned a lot about the way the game is played in England. "I know I have been criticised in the media, but that does not bother me. In fact, a lot of the time I have agreed with the things that have been said in the newspapers."

Well I'm glad and I want him to stay to prove himself.

Its good hes able to take critisism on the chin and work hard and he will be good for us next season.

I can't belive that Luque didn't even get a look-in at all today. I'm not very happy that Roeder did not put Luque on in the 2nd half. We were leading 2-0 and as much as West Brom came out better in the 2nd half, dont think they were gonna put 2 past Shay. It would have been perfect for Luque to build on the last game coz we could play on the counter.

Luque is an awesome player, could fit in any league and any formation.

Same happens to Cassano, manager is not trusting on him enough to make him play more.

I like Luque and he could be class if used. But it seems either Roeder doesnt think he is good enough or isnt ready. either way if we get decent money offered this summer to take him off our hands then we should be taking it.

We have to sell him while we can. We can't afford to keep him when there's a good chance he will end up like this next season also and he'll be sitting on £40,000-£50,000 a week for doing **** all. Sell him now while he's still worth a decent amount of money. A shame that it came to this.

Its all Newcastle Uniteds fault.

I don't think Souness or the man who is in charge for this transfer knew Luque good enough.

He is a footballer from Spain which is dependent on a formation who fits him. The way N'castle is playing is totally wrong for him. Its like Owen shall play central defender in Serie A.

Luque played his first match against The Red Devils and scored an offside goal and had a couple of good chances. And then he got a injure which set him back for months.

Coming back from a heavy injure in a different league, club and nation is not easy. It takes time to get fit again and Luque got 5-10 minuts in the end of a match in a formation and tactic he not fit in.

They must use him in the right position and use him from start. Not 5 minutes at the end of a match at Old Trafford or something.

Its better to sell him in this summer. Because N'castle isn't a club which Luque fits in..because of the tactics and formation + Roeder is not famous for using him.

Non-thinking buy and extreamly stupid again by the club. Boumsong, Luque, Milner...they have lost 50-60 % of the prize they coast to tyneside.

THINK FIRST, THEN BUY !
