Newcastle defenders Titus Bramble and Craig Moore is included in the squad for Sunday’s Barclays Premiership clash with Liverpool.

Both men have recovered from hamstring problems and Bramble has a chance of playing, while Moore, who travelled to Manchester United last weekend but was not involved, could make the 16 for a competitive match for the first time since joining the club.

Stephen Carr is back in training after hernia surgery, but is unlikely to be ready until the trip to Charllton next weekend, while Michael Owen (foot) and Steven Taylor (shoulder) are still out.

Two first half goals from Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard looked to have given the European Cup holders a comfortable advantage but Shola Ameobi gave Newcastle some hope with a decent header before the break.

However, Jean-Alain Boumsong made an almighty blunder to gift Liverpool a third from the spot taken by Cisse and in conceding the penalty the Frenchman was dismissed leaving Newcastle to play for nearly 40 minutes a player short.

Newcastle stay 12th, as the contenders for Europe start to slip away from the club.

We were shocking yesterday. We didn't know what we were doing, looking at that bench made me cringe.

We didn't have anything up front, we had no creativity and we had half of the defence missing.

Boumsong and Shola were awful and so was Ramage.

Parker and Emre had little or no effect on the game, Bowyer was his usual waste of space, Shearer did very little more than complain.

N'Zogbia looked lively, Babayaro and Elliott didn't look too bad and Nobby at least tried to do something, Dyer looked OK when he came on.

What the hell is going on with Luque? If he's dropped because he went back to Spain without showering with the team at Old Trafford as was reported then that's a pathetic reason.

The only person on our bench who could have made any impact yesterday was Dyer, 1 impact player at home is not good enough.
