He can't drop Shearer cos then he really wouldn get the sack. Besides he hasn't exactly had many players to choose a team from this season so you can't critices his team selection too much.

Souness plays players out of posistion and when they are not fully recovered from injuries. You can critisise his team selecton alot.

It's a tough call, if Freddy were to have sacked him it should have been earlier in the month so to allow a new manager the option of making a few new signings to get them through this rough injury patch...

Souness is a pretty crap manager but I can see even the best having a hard time of it with the injuries he's having to deal with right now... Still, even if Souey had a full fit squad I reckon he'd still only scrape into the top 10 possibly nicking a Uefa cup spot at best... The club and many of it's players are simply too big for him, he's out of his depth!

I would give him until the end of the season to see what he can do when his players come back. OK, he'll not be challenging for anything but he'll comfortably keep them up allowing then for a better manager to take over in the summer...

I guess that Martin O'Neill will be the next manager if Sou been fired.

The only good manager who has not a contract with a club...

Hitzfeld is too unrealistic for a club like Newcastle!

Well for one Luque should be played as a striker in this league....secondly rammage and n'zogbia should start every game possible.

No manager needs to make signings they just need a real manager. Look at Blackburn as soon as Souness left.

The Magpies have horrible injure problems, but that's no excuse when it comes to Souness. He'll never succeed as manager, and I think he is an 'asshole' and will not listen to anyone.

Souness would struggle to get Chelsea in the top 6.

They'll probably win today and he'll declare himself a success again.

souness is a genius, any manager who can

a) get chopra to score a goal
and
b) keep a clean sheet with boumsong & babayaro on the pitch

is incredible

Lol

Must say I have been impressed by Chopra every time I have seen him....this was the first game I have seen him start though and he really did well...could prove very useful.
-----------------------------

On another matter...if Newcastle had everyone fit they have a really good side.

Here is a list of the players that are top quality imo

given, owen, parker, emre, taylor, n'zogbia

rammage and chopra will be over time....dyer and luque can be fantastic attackers.

There is enough talent there to work with....I reckon someone like Benitez could have done with that group almost what he has done with Liverpool.

newcastle's problems stem from the top imo, the chairman is a ***** of the highest order, and the manager is simply unable to get the best out of some players with big reputations

owen & shearer guarantee goals, but players like ameobi, dyer, solano, emre, luque and bowyer simply dont perform often enough. parker is a constant, which is expected as he is a class player, but he cant carry a midfield on his own, especially when his CM partner is Lee Clark, who was finished about 3 years ago as a PL player.

at the back, given is fantastic, boumsong and bramble are a pair of jokes, ramage is good but very susceptible in the air, taylor is quality but needs a good experienced partner to help him out. elliott is another player finished a long time ago (what is it with them re-signing geordies?? it'll be steve watson next) babayaro is woeful atm, one of the worst LB's i have seen for a while (since pistone last played for the BS), and that leaves carr who i think is a good footballer is injured and hasnt played for months.

all in all.....problems

Emre always produces...he just never plays enough...

Both Boumsong and Bramble would be ok if Taylor had already reached his potential and was a couple of years older and more experienced...neither of them are leaders or organisers and it shows.
