Default Spurs vs Newcastle

Newcastle are without Bowyer whose appeal against his sending off at Liverpool has failed.

Better news for the Magpies is that defender Stephen Carr returns to the squad for the first time since surgery on a hernia while Scott Parker and Titus Bramble are fit.

Newcastle are still without Emre, Kieron Dyer and Craig Moore for the match.

Likely line-up:

Given

Ramage Boumsong Bramble Babayaro

Solano Faye Parker Luque

Owen Shearer

A Spurs victory is on the cards I'm afraid.

Default Spurs see off poor Newcastle

Quote:
Tottenham edged a dull Barclays Premiership encounter 2-0 against Newcastle at White Hart Lane.

And to make matters worse for beleaguered Geordie manager Graeme Souness, England striker Michael Owen was forced off the pitch just before half-time through injury.

Teemu Tainio broke the deadlock two minutes before the break and Newcastle's shortcomings in defence cost them dearly shortly after the hour mark. The Magpies failed to clear their lines on several occasions and when Robbie Keane crossed for Mido, the Egyptian was in space to force the ball over Shay Given to make it 2-0.

I have officially lost all hope and faith right now. We're light years behind what we had with Robson. Just when will Freddie realise that Souness HAS TO GO!

Whilst I have defended Souness, half heartedly, in the past his initial appointment was stupid at best.

I don't think Robson was going to do a great deal better than Souness has done, but at least Souness might take Sheppard with him.

Souness's only defence is that he has had horrendous luck, worse than any other side in Europe...also he has been behind 3 fine, fine players signing; Parker/Emre/Owen....thats about it though.

Newcastle are fcuked. I know it is stating the obvious but Owen is vital to you and being without him for 2 or 3 months is a disaster, add to that Given breaking his thumb and you would of been far better if you hadn't bothered turning up for todays game.

Harper is only bettered by Cudicini or Abbiati as a reserve goalkeeper...fine Given is a loss, but Harper is still an excellent goalie.

Owen is a big loss, but 50% of that loss is psychological. Newcastle look confident when they have Owen, they look like a bowl of jelly without him....Souness doesn't have the managerial ability to change that.

They will have to buy another striker/winger and a defender in the January transfer window.

They didn't look confident at any stage of today's game H. They were outmaneouvered, outplayed and made to look ordinary by a Spurs team not even firing on all cylinders. Sourness has turned a good club with a good team into a mediocre one.

after the way we played in the liverpool and spurs games its time for Souness to go, he has taken newcastle backwards and with souness in charge we will not be anything other then mid table if we are lucky, get rid of him NOW and get sombody in who will be able to build for next season as this one is over for us, ya there is still the F.A.CUP but be real we have no hope of wining that with the likes of chelsea, spurs, liverpool and dare i say it wigan res.
