Luque who's talking about Al
Real Madrid will try to prise unsettled Spanish forward Albert Luque from Newcastle in January with a cash-plus Thomas Gravesen offer.
Luque arrived at St James' Park from Deportivo La Coruna for a bumper £9.5m in the summer - but has found life away from Spain hard and been plagued by a string of injuries.
The 27-year-old caught Toon boss Graeme Souness' eye with several dazzling displays for Depor - but they also alerted Real to his talent, which has yet to flourish on the Premiership stage.
Luque is behind Alan Shearer and Michael Owen in the Magpies' striker pecking order - and Charles N'Zogbia's fine performances on the left wing have kept Luque on the sidelines for much of this season.
So Real are set to make an offer of around £7m-plus Gravesen when the transfer window reopens, as they are a daunting 11 points behind La Liga leaders and champions Barcelona, so need to get their restless fans back on side with a big-name addition to the Galacticos.
Souness may be tempted by the cash - but could also choose to give Luque more time to settle, as he already has Scott Parker, Emre, Amdy Faye and Lee Bowyer vying for the two central midfield spots so has no need for a player in Gravesen's mould.
