Default Souness suffers transfer blow

Quote:
Graeme Souness will only be able to draft players in on loan in the transfer window and has targeted Wayne Bridge and Robert Huth.
Souness has been told by chairman Freddie Shepherd there is no big money to spend after he splashed out £50million on the likes of Emre, Michael Owen and Albert Luque.
It has left the coffers empty at St James' Park and it means that Souness will have to use the loan market to strengthen his squad. That means a swoop for Nicolas Anelka is out of the question.

After missing out on him last summer, Souness was hoping to make a renewed attempt to land the Frenchman in January but Fenerbahce do not want to sell him never mind loan him out.

Souness could have more success in his pursuit of Bridge and Huth though as both players could be available on a temporary basis. The duo are keen to get some first-team action under their belt and they do not look like getting it at Stamford Bridge.

Defence is an area the boss wants to strengthen and he is known to have sounded out Mourinho about a move for the duo after the two sides recently played each other.

Disappointing if true. The real players we need isn't available on loan.

i doubt that.

i wondered where you got all your money from...it seemed strange that a club out of europe with limited success in the league could afford so much.

50,000 people a week only pays for so much.

you dont want huth and i doubt we will let bridge go.
