i really do think newcastle should look back at this as inspiration for the future...atm they should put good football ahead of results.

never forget that season. one of the best in the premiership imo. my dad used to crow on about newcastle being better than manchester united and liverpool, and for about 80% of the season they were in a league of their own.but united had cantona, and newcastle had bottlers and players who were playing above themselves for far too long.

rob lee was a big favourite of mine, as was daveeeeeed

i think playing above themselves is harsh...more likely is that they were sussed...teams knew that they could outscore them with counter attacking football and keegan didnt react to that...instead he threw hissy fits and fell out with key players.

hmmm, i dont think so....

i think players like gillespie, albert, barton and whichever keeper they had in were at best average players, but such was the buzz around players like beardsley, lee, ginola and big les, that they raised their game and at first were able to get away with it, but once the form started to wane and ferdinand and ginola went missing, the other players were not good enough to carry them like they had been carried themselves.....
