Default Luque vows to turn good.

Quote:
Newcastle forward Albert Luque has vowed to fire in the goals needed to save Graeme Souness' job.

Souness splashed out almost £10 million on the Spanish international in the summer, but the start of his Tyneside career was marred by a hamstring injury.

Luque returned to the team a fortnight ago but has looked well short of peak fitness.

The former Deportivo La Coruna man knows Souness is under pressure, but has vowed to come good once he finds his match sharpness.

"I have targets, but I first need to play games and get back to full match-fitness," he said.

"When I do that, I know the goals will follow because I have the confidence in my ability.

"I am happy to come back and very eager to play well for the team. I want to re-capture my best form, similar to how I played in Spain for Deportivo.

"It has been difficult and very disappointing for me because the team have not been playing well at times, but I have not been able to help them."

Luque's commitment to the cause has been questioned since his return to the fold, but he is determined to win over the Magpies faithful.

"I know the supporters are disappointed we are not higher in the league, but I feel the team can get better game by game and build up some consistency," he said.

"I want to bring something more to the team and make things more exciting for the Newcastle fans. It is disappointing for the fans and players, but we have had many injuries since the start of the season.

"We must stick together and things will get better if we do that."

He will come good, and i am 100% confident he will be a great player for us,hes come to england, got injured whilst still adapting to the game and not got very good english communication, once all this is through he will be a great player, cant wait until he bangs his first goal in for us!

i reckon he needs to play up front though....he doesnt have the discipline to be a winger in the premiership imo.
