Newcastle-Aston Villa
Quote:
Newcastle will still be missing record signing Michael Owen, who is troubled by an on-going groin problem.
Emre (hamstring) faces weeks out, Celestine Babayaro is banned and Kieron Dyer (illness) will not feature.
Prob lineup: Given-Ramage,Boumsong,Bramble,N'Zogbia-Solano,Bowyer,Parker,Luque-Shearer,Ameobi
|
Villa are also $hit though so it'll be a close game!!! I just want us to attack them and cause them some problems!!

souness wont do that...he isnt clever enough to realise that without taylor you cant defend.
lol....look at your fullbacks...they are practically wingers.
if you just said go out there and try and attack from all angles there would be few sides that could cope.
ironically you might defend better as a result because your defenders only real strong points are their pace which could be excellent for defending counter attacks.

I think it will be a boring draw, and that's me being optimistic at the moment. With Owen out we'll struggle to create a chance like the first couple of games of the season.

3 strikers means you wont spend much time defending....may as well go for it now anyway.
althoi have a feeling that parker will be swamped in midfield and davis will win it for them.

One point against Villa is very disappointing. The Magpies should've take at least 10 points against teams like Wigan, Everton, Villa, West Ham and Fulham.

Not acceptable
Quote:
Gavin McCann's equaliser earned Aston Villa a precious point from a 1-1 draw at Newcastle, but Gareth Barry missed a glorious late chance to give them all three points.
Barry scored two penalties as Villa won this fixture 3-0 last season, but this time he was way off the mark from 12 yards just two minutes from time.
Referee Alan Wiley pointed to the spot after Titus Bramble's reckless challenge on Milan Baros, but Barry's kick cleared Shay Given's crossbar by a distance.
It would have earned David O'Leary's side a third consecutive Premiership victory, which would have been the perfect response to the disastrous defeat to Doncaster in the Carling Cup in midweek.
Even so, defeat would have been harsh on the home side, who dominated for long periods but failed to add to Alan Shearer's first half penalty.
The luckless Liam Ridgewell was the culprit again, conceding a penalty for the fourth time in five games as he handled Scott Parker's fierce drive from the edge of the area.
The Villa defender attempted to block the shot with his chest and appeared to keep his right arm tucked in by his side, but Wiley nevertheless awarded the penalty.
Shearer drove the ball hard to Thomas Sorensen's right and found the back of the net despite a firm hand from the Danish keeper.
The goal brought the game to life after a tepid opening half an hour, in which only Shola Ameobi had come close to a goal with a right-foot shot which curled just wide of the target.
Newcastle, who were without Michael Owen, Emre and Charles N'Zogbia through injury, looked lively after the break and they almost doubled their lead when Given's long clearance evaded Ridgewell and Shearer clipped the crossbar with a dipping volley.
But for all their possession, Graeme Souness's side failed to create any other meaningful opportunities, with only wayward headers from Shearer and Jean-Alain Boumsong to show for their efforts.
Villa threw on Eirik Bakke and Luke Moore as they looked to pose a greater attacking threat, but after an initial flurry in which Olof Mellberg and Bakke went close, Newcastle appeared to assume control again.
Yet Villa pinched an equaliser out of the blue when Lee Hendrie pulled the ball back across the edge of the area and McCann lashed in an unstoppable drive from 20 yards.
Then, with time running out, Barry squandered the chance to win the game.

The torture continues. Dire performance against a crap team. I'm sick of our lack of performances. Souness has to go,but I'm afraid Gareth Barry saved him for now.

Bare in mind.....Carr,Taylor,Babayaro,Emre,Dyer,Owen,N'zog bia and Luque (unfit) would all have started the game if they weren't injured.
Somebody over in Toon better find the big Axe and chop of some heads in the management of NUFC before we join the Mackems in the bottom.
