Default Newcastle Line Up Rivals Striker

Newcastle could make a shock bid for Dutch forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - as they look for a short-term option to cope with the loss of Michael Owen.

The England striker picked up an injury inside the first minute of Englands encounter with Sweden and now is ruled out of action for the next 5 months.

Newcastle were already looking for a new striker after the retirment of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer at the end of last season, and have lined up Hasselbaink as a short tern solution.

Hasselbaink, 34, is out-of-contract this summer and is expected to leave Middlesbrough, and has been linked constantly in the past few weeks with a move to Celtic.

Hasselbaink's agent Humphrey Nijmen has confirmed Celtic is an attractive move for the former Chelsea star but now with Newcastles interest the striker is more than likely to stay in the Premiership next season.

Default Newcastle to step up Wigan interest

Quote:
Newcastle want Wigan striker Henri Camera as a replacement for Michael Owen.
With Owen now out for 5/6 months, it's no secret that Newcastle are looking to add to their attack with up to two new players.

Kuyt has been in the frame for a couple of months now after previously admitting he loves the north-east and really wants to play his football in the Premiership, and Camara could be the perfect partner ahead of the new season.

Shearer retired at the end of last season which took out Newcastle's major goalscorer, someone will have to fill his boots, but are Kuyt and Camara the answer?

I do rate Henri Camara, thought his last two seasons in the prem have been pretty good.

No way. Wesley is on a par with Rio. Very underrated though and SAF loves him to bits. No way we'd sell him. I'd be devastated if we did, but I'm confident that we won't.

And Henri Camara ?

You ARE having a laugh.............

Camara is a decent player but he can be a bit too flashy at times. But i would accept him as a temporary solution for Owen.

Default Newcastle United to make late move for Celtic star

Stilian Petrov is a target for the Magpies according to reports in Scotland

The Bulgarian midfielder requested a move away from Celtic last season and although the club turned that down, Petrov is still keen to get away.

Portsmouth had been thought the most likely destination for the player but Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is an admirer and could match Celtic's £5m valuation if he does not land Fulham's Steed Malbranque.

Yeah, Juan from 04

Gravesen, Borowski, van Bommel, Magnin, Kuyt, Maxi Lopez could've been some good names to get too..

Borowski, Magnin, Juan, Kuyt, Lopez would be a fantastic set of players to get. Although I don't see Juan or Lopez taking to north eastern England.

Espesially the German market is very interesting. Plenty of good players and quality. The league is also very underrated.

I have follow Werder Bremen in many years now and today, all of their players in the first 11 is good enough for Newcastle United and will reinforce the Mags.

Klose maybe ?

But if we are involved, he'll obviously choose Man Utd.

What about that Metzelder ? Who does he play for ?

I think Klose is unlikely for The Magpies at the moment. He is one of the hottest strikers in the world atm.

Default Toon switch sights to van Nistelrooy

Newcastle are ready to abandon their interest in Dirk Kuyt - and launch a bold bid for his fellow Dutchman, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Magpies have gone cool on Kuyt after he failed to impress Alan Shearer during Holland's abortive World Cup campaign, claims the Sunday Sun.

With Feyenoord quoting a price of £14million for him, the verdict at St James' Park is that 25-year-old Kuyt is too big a gamble.

And so Newcastle are now preparing to make their move for Manchester United striker van Nistelrooy, one of the Premiership's most successful strikers ever.

The former PSV Eindhoven star is demanding talks with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson this week aimed at booking his passage out of Old Trafford.

And although they face serious competition from top Spanish and Italian clubs, Newcastle will go all out in a bid to convince van Nistelrooy to stay in England.

With Shearer newly retired and Michael Owen sidelined for the rest of the year, Newcastle face a desperate shortage of striking options.
