Dutch ace eyes 'dream' Magpies move
Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt has cleared the way for a move to Newcastle after revealing it would be a 'dream' to play for the Magpies.
Newcastle are desperate to sign a quality striker as a replacement for Alan Shearer, and Dutch international Kuyt is known to be on boss Glenn Roeder's list of possible targets.
The highly-rated hitman is sure to be one of the stars of the World Cup this summer and Roeder could swoop now as the player's price is sure to soar if he shines out in Germany with Holland.
Chelsea and Liverpool have also been strongly linked with the player but it seems as though the 25-year-old has set his heart on a move to St James' Park.
"I would love to play in the north east," Kuyt revealed. "When I was young I loved Italian football. But only because Van Basten, Rijkaard and Gullit were playing for AC Milan.
"Now I'd rather play in England. I love English football. I also think my style of play is completely right for the Premiership. A club like Newcastle would be my dream."

GLENN ROEDER will meet Freddy Shepherd this week to discuss Newcastle United’s close-season transfer budget. Shaun Wright-Phillips is among the players being monitored by Roeder, who has been charged with restoring Newcastle as a force in the Premiership.

You'll need at least 15 million to get him and he will need to want to go.

I don't think you'll get SWP and if Liverpool are going for Kuijt i'm not sure you'll beat them to it.

We're not going to buy SWP. The only option is a one-year loan, which I really doubt is realistic. Would be awesome though.

Striker exit on cards
Speculation in the North East is suggesting that Michael Chopra is set to make the switch from Newcastle to Cardiff.
Chopra has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at St James Park and, despite being offered a new 12-month deal at the Magpies, is thought to be keen on a move to secure regular football.
Cardiff are not the only side said to be eyeing the player with Barnsley said to be looking to take the player back to Oakwell after he impressed during a loan spell at the Tykes last term, while Burnley are said to be interested as well.
However, it is suggested that Cardiff, who are offering a three-year deal, is his favoured option.
