Newcastle United defender David Rozehnal admits he wants a permanent deal at Lazio.

"I played the last few games and I recovered my football, like when I was playing for PSG," he told Calcio Mercato.

"I hope I will continue like this and I would like to stay in Rome, but it is up to Lazio to decide."

To be honest, I'm pretty sure N'castle will be a team in the middle of the table also next season.

Then Keagan must surprise extreamly...and he has to be very luck with the new faces (if we get any new players at all )

Default Magpies prepare Emana swoop

Quote:
Newcastle are weighing up a move for Cameroon international Achille Emana.

Kevin Keegan is keen to get new faces in as soon as possible and has set his sights on Toulouse's talented midfielder.

It is understood that talks between the Magpies and the Ligue 1 side have already begun, with Emana expressing an interest in moving to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has a contract in France until 2011, but his agent Sebastien Thiery is confident that an agreement can be reached.

"Achille is ready to play in the Premier League and Newcastle is a team he would relish playing for," said Thiery.

"He is strong and is a box-to-box midfielder who also possesses a lot of pace.

"He has the right number of caps and the right amount of experience at 25 not to be overawed by the Premier League, which would be an exciting challenge."

Emana rose through the academy ranks at Valencia before moving to France as a teenager in 2000.

He is believed to be open on a return to Spain, and Seville, Real Betis, Portsmouth and West Ham are expected to join Newcastle in the hunt for his signature.

He is an international team-mate of Magpies midfielder Geremi and has represented his country and the 2006 and 2008 African Cup of Nations.

With Joey Barton's future shrouded in doubt and Emre continuing to be linked with a move back to Turkey, Emana could prove to be the answer to Keegan's problems in the middle of the park.

Alan Thompson is being linked with a return to Newcastle United after announcing his retirement yesterday. The Evening Chronicle says United are keen on bringing Thompson back to Tyneside in a coaching capacity.

I'll not be surprised if Alan Thompson will play for Magpies next season, because of injures. Give this man a player licence...just in case.

Newcastle United and West Ham are chasing Almeria striker Alvaro Negredo.

Negredo joined Almeria last summer from Real Madrid, which has a buy-back option on the striker and could re-sign the forward before selling him on this summer.

Exciting striker, but I don't think he will be is the new Alan Shearer.

Default Toon open talks with Swiss star

Quote:
NEWCASTLE have opened talks over a move for Swiss starlet Eren Derdiyok.

The Sunday Sun has learned that United officials first met with representatives of the 20-year-old FC Basel striker in London last week.

And after further positive discussions, everything is set for the Magpies to move in with a firm bid and imminently land the youngest player to feature at Euro 2008.

Derdiyok, whose parents are Turkish, is also attracting interest from Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but neither club could match the wages on offer from Newcastle.

Toon open talks with Swiss star - Sunday Sun

He looked interessting in a couple of games in the Euro-tournament, but I think it is a risk if we have only identified him because of the tournament. I would be more comfortable if 'our scouts' had watched him over a number of months and matches for club and country, but I highly doubt they have done that.

Just a day after it was reported that the ex-Arsenal forward Julio Baptista is looking for a return to the Premiership with Newcastle United, it seems that Italian giants Roma have put in a bid for the Real Madrid forward.

The Spanish paper Marca said that Baptista is one of the players Real are willing to sell to finance the signing of Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Spanish champions have valued the player at around €15million euros and Roma have put in an initial bid of €12million.

"I am on holiday in Brazil and so don’t know anything about current negotiations," Baptista told Marca.

"My main plan is to stay at Real, but you can never tell what the future holds and Roma are a great club."

The player has already stated he would like a return to the Premiership but it looks like Newcastle will have to offer the full asking price to secure his signature.

>> Looks like N'castle is working on Baptista. I've never been a fan of him and I really hope he'll end up in Rome. Its not often, but if Bap has the day, he is a very good and strong striker. He has over 35 caps for Brazil, experience from Sevilla, Sao Paolo, Real Madrid and Arsenal. The only big event he did last season was to determine "El Clasico" at Camp Nou.

No thanks to The Beast. It didn't look like he fancied it in England last time and I don't see why that would change. He just wasn't quick enough on the ball in the Premiership.

Default West Brom may be back in Ameobi race

Quote:
SHOLA Ameobi could be on his way to West Bromwich Albion just a week after his proposed move to The Hawthorns appeared to have collapsed.

Ameobi is desperate to leave Newcastle in order to play regular first-team football after seven years as a squad player, but with no clubs willing to meet the £3m asking price the striker was forced to reluctantly return to pre-season training this week. West Brom are just one of a number of clubs to have expressed an interest in Ameobi this summer, but they did not follow up their initial enquiry as manager Tony Mowbray expected former Sunderland forward Kevin Phillips to sign a new contract.

Phillips, though, has still not signed and is expected to move to Birmingham City on a two-year contract after Albion refused to offer him more than a one-year deal. As a result, former Middlesbrough defender Mowbray could look to Ameobi to fill the void as long as Newcastle are willing to lower their asking price.

Stoke City, Ipswich Town and Norwich City have also contacted Newcastle’s executive director (football) Dennis Wise to ask how much Newcastle want for Ameobi, but also withdrew their interest when they were quoted a fee.

With Ameobi unhappy with life on Tyneside and keen to get out as quickly as possible, The Journal understands United are now willing to compromise.

However, should the Magpies agree to accept a cut-price deal for the 26-year-old, it is likely to spark a fight for his signature with Norwich, in particular, confident they can persuade the player to drop down to the Championship.

Former Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder is now in charge at Carrow Road and had a good relationship with the striker during their time together at St James’s Park.

A source close to the player said: “Shola would be willing to move to Norwich because he enjoyed working with Glenn Roeder and he gets on well with (Norwich assistant manager) Lee Clark, but the problem is the fee and his wages.

“At this stage, Norwich haven’t got the money to sign him, but they are hoping Newcastle will accept a reduced offer the closer it gets to the start of the season.”

Ameobi’s move to Norfolk could hinge on talks between Norwich’s major shareholder Delia Smith and local businessman Peter Cullum, who says he is willing to invest around £20m in the club to assist their bid to return to the Premier League.

West Brom may be back in Ameobi race - JournalLive

I hope he goes as soon as possible. It's clearly that he hasn't a future at the club nor is he good enough, but he played through the pain barrier for Roeder when we were suffering a lot of injuries and that showed that he has a heart for the club, unlike most other players have or had.

Default Newcastle Bid For Senderos

Quote:
Arsenal's Philippe Senderos could be the next player to leave the Emirates after it was reported that Newcastle United have made a bid for the Swiss international.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Kevin Keegan has offered Arsenal £4 million for the centre back, an offer which the Arsenal board are willing to consider although it is thought they will hold out for £6 million.

The paper suggests the news is unlikely to please manager Arsene Wenger who is facing an uneasy summer at the Emirates having already seen Flamini, Hleb, Silva and Lehmann leave the club and with Adebayor’s future also uncertain.

Despite not being a first choice at Arsenal, Senderos is an important part of the squad and may be needed at the start of the season especially as Kolo Toure is currently suffering with malaria and could potentially miss Arsenal’s opening games.

Senderos joined Arsenal in 2003 from Swiss side Servette but has struggled to force his way into the first team at the Emirates and made only 14 league starts last season. He also suffered a miserable end to the season as he was largely blamed for Arsenal’s Champions League exit to Liverpool.

However, Senderos was part of Switzerland’s Euro 2008 squad and put in some decent performances as well as being an ever present in a weak Swiss side which finished bottom of Group A.

Newcastle’s defensive problems meanwhile have been well-documented and manager Kevin Keegan is keen to bolster his back four before the start of the new season. Centre-back Steven Taylor has recently signed a new deal with the club and Keegan may see Senderos as the ideal partner for the youngster.

Goal.com - Arsenal - Newcastle Bid For Senderos

Senderos would not be a good signing at all. He is average at best and is prone to the kind of errors that Bramble used to make. He would not strengthen NUFC's defence.

I hope this is just rumour because the guy ain't good enough. I'd be very annoyed if they signed Senderos.
