Newcastle United could make a summer move for Blackburn's 27-year-old right back Lucas Neill.

Ironically, one of his admirers is former boss Graeme Sounness, who signed him from Millwall when he was manager at Ewood Park.

Mark Hughes is keen to keep him but knows that he only has one year left on his contract and talks on a new deal have yet to open.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan is a shock target for the Magpies according to reports in Spain

The Uruguayan frontman bounced back from a disappointing spell at Old Trafford to score 25 league goals for Villareal last season, helping his new club into the Champions League.

The 26-year-old, although under contract until 2009, will be allowed to leave for a suitable fee and that has alerted Newcastle who are keen to sign a replacement for Alan Shearer despite currently being without a permanent manager.

Lazio midfielder Ousmane Dabo claims Newcastle are interested in bringing him to the Premiership.

The 29-year-old is set to leave the Serie A outfit in the summer, when his contract expires.

Dabo has denied rumours that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal.

"Maybe the Gunners are following me," said the French star, "I have not signed anything with Arsenal or any other team.

"I know other English sides have shown some interest. I also heard about Newcastle."

The Toon's hopes of landing Dabo could be dealt a blow with the player insisting he wants to be playing Champions League football next season.

Makes sense that we show interest in him though, would be the type of quick-fix and easy replacement for Bowyer that Shephard would look into.

Lucas Neill is a very good player, but Rovers wouldn't let him go and I Rammage could be as good in time.

You don't really need Dabo....Parker and Emre have the potential to be like Keane/Scholes-lite.

Forlan would be a decent player....his link up play is good enough to be a partner for Michael.

Newcastle are ready to make a summer move for Wolves defender Jolean Lescott - but may have to pay £5million to get their man.

The pacy Lescott is expected to leave Molineux at the end of this campaign with the Midlanders now out of the play-off chase.

Newcastle are in the market for at least one top-quality central defender and the 23-year-old is on their list of potential summer recruits.

Aston Villa are also interested in Lescott but they would be no match for the Toon in a transfer tussle.

It looks more and more like Bridge is coming back to Chelsea for good, but if we do sell it would be a superb buy for you.

I certainly wouldn't recommend getting Barry...especially seeing as he hasn't been a fullback for a few years now.

At least 5 million. He is a top fullback and a really great guy, Chelsea fans generally love him (not just for his goal v Arsenal in the CL) and we would be pretty gutted to see him leave.

Newcastle are being linked with a summer bid for Inter Milan striker Obefami Martins.

The Nigerian international has grabbed 10 goals for the Serie A giants this season, despite failing to hold down a regular starting berth.

The Sunday Sun claim that Newcastle are ready to battle Tottenham in bringing the pacey 21-year-old to the Premiership.

They suggest that the Toon have scouted Martins in recent weeks - and have been impressed with his performances.

Emre's agent has confirmed AC Milan and Perugia are showing an interest in the player but believes Newcastle will not sell.

The Turkish midfielder has had a difficult first season at St James' Park since arriving from Inter Milan last summer and there has been constant speculation linking him with a return to Serie A.
Emre's agent Ahmet Bulut has now confirmed that two Italian clubs are keen to sign him and although he is refusing to name names it is thought Milan and Perugia are keen to land him.

Bulut is pushing for a return to Italy for his client but feels Newcastle will not be willing to let him go.

"I hope that my client can return to Italy, even if it will not be easy because Newcastle does not seem interested in selling him," Ahmet Bulut revealed.

We need to keep ahold of decent players like Emre, we will get no where if we just keep buying and selling the majority of our players every season, he has been great so far and players like him can only get better.
