Nobby Solano is set to stay with Newcastle United. The Peru veteran has been linked with West Ham and Portsmouth, but Toon boss Sam Allardyce told the Evening Chronicle there is nothing on the table, though the player is still hoping to go to London or the south for family reasons.

Peter Luccin is not what we need. What we need is a right back and a creative midfielder + Faye.

According to the portuguese press, Newcastle scouts will be at Porto tonight to watch Porto vs Sporting with the intention of scouting the portuguese international, Helder Postiga.

Not sure if you remenber him from his days at Spurs.. He was, well poor. But he has improved his game, still I dont think he is ready for the Premiership yet

Nah he is good, just didnt fit in at Spurs. He scored 9 goals in 13 matches last season, then for some reason he got benched and never played until the end of the season..
Good that you dont need a striker, because I really want Postiga to stay

Michael Owen
Oba Martins
Mark Viduka
Alan Smith
Shola Ameobi
...Don't need to spend millons on a new striker as the situation is right now.
And Mike Ashley...we need a new rightback....and it looks like Daniel Alves wants away from Seville
£25 mill + a very good wage...and N'castle will perhaps have the best RB in the world. You can afford that, your skinflint !

Newcastle To Offer Johnson A Way Out Of Chelsea?
A report in The Sun claims that Newcastle United are willing to move for Chelsea right-back Glenn Johnson.
Glenn Johnson has become the third choice right-back at Chelsea following the arrival of Juliano Belletti, and Jose Mourinho has openly indicated that he would be happy to offload a right-back.
With Paolo Ferreira set to stay on, it is Johnson who is closer to an exit, and Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with a move.
Portsmouth were interested in bringing him back to the club earlier, but seem to have gone cold, and a 2 million deal could be struck between Chelsea and Newcastle. The two have already done business over Geremi this year.

Szetela Rejects Roma for Newcastle
Quote:
Goal.com has learned that American starlet Danny Szetela has turned down an offer from Roma in favor of a move to Newcastle.
Columbus Crew and U.S. under-20 midfielder Danny Szetela has rejected a four-year deal to join Roma before the close of the summer transfer window. Instead, according to a source close to the situation who spoke exclusively to Goal.com, the 20-year-old New Jersey native has entered into an agreement to join Newcastle of the English Premier League on January 1.
The news means Szetela will remain with the Columbus through the end of the 2007 season. The team is currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference, and one point behind the Colorado Rapids in the race for the final playoff spot.
Ever since Szetela put in a head-turning performance at this summer’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup, several European clubs have been chasing his signature. Rumors of a move to EPL club Everton were unfounded, according to sources, but both Roma and crosstown rivals Lazio were reportedly in the running to secure his services. If Szetela had accepted Roma’s offer, he would’ve joined Sampdoria’s Gabriel Ferrari as the only two Americans in the Italian Serie A.
Szetela has made 34 appearances since joining Columbus in 2004 as a 17 year old on the strength of a fine display at the 2003 U-17 World Cup in Finland. Standing at 5’11” (1.80 m), 175-pound (79 kg), he can provide a strong presence in the middle of the park, distribute well, and is capable of joining the attack when the opportunity presents itself, as evidenced by his three goals in this summer’s U-20 World Cup.
His MLS career has not been as stellar. To date, he has not scored a goal for the Black & Gold and posted only three assists in four years. But he has been plagued with injuries, including a broken left foot, a sprained right knee, and a concussion. In 2006, he saw action in only 4 matches due to injuries.
The terms or length of the Newcastle deal were not divulged.

N'castle should have hired Sam Allardyce with Fat Fred as chairman. How much have we spend this summer? Fred was a KING comparing to Mike Ashley.
I hope we can land a couple of new signings tonight, if not the club will only be a middle of the table hero.
