Newcastle keeper Krul rejected PSV offer

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul rejected an offer from PSV Eindhoven earlier this summer, it has been revealed.

VI.tv says PSV moved for the young Dutchman and only chose to sign Cassio Ramos last week after being rejected by the Newcastle youngster.

Krul, contracted to Toon until 2011, told PSV representatives that he was happy in England.

Newcastle favourites for Sevilla defender Dragutinovic

Newcastle United are favourites to land Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic.

AS says Manchester City have failed with a £2 million offer and Newcastle will have representatives in Seville today for talks with Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido in order to close a deal for the Serb.

De Nido is ready to sell should Newcastle, as expected, better City's offer. The Sevilla supremo knows that Dragutinovic is keen on a move to England this summer.

Newcastle bid for Fulham's Diop

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is planning a £3 million offer for Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop.

The Mirror says Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez has spoken of his willingness to hold on to the Senegalese powerhouse.

But Bouba Diop, 29, is desperate for a new challenge and Allardyce hopes the lure of Newcastle - and a £3 million bid - will be decisive.

Transfer update:

SAM ALLARDYCE is ready to go for Wigan Athletic’s Leighton Baines, hoping to clinch a £5m deal for the England Under-21 left-back.

And he will do so after his first choice Mikael Silvestre turned down the chance to come to St James’ Park.

Big Sam had hoped to use Alan Smith, who signed a five-year contract with Newcastle today, as a lever to persuade his former Old Trafford team-mate Silvestre to join him on Tyneside.

But the Frenchman, who can operate at both left-back and as a left midfielder, has turned down the chance to come to St James’ – because of Joey Barton’s bust-up with Ousmane Dabo at Manchester City.

I understand Allardyce had agreed a £6m fee with Sir Alex Ferguson and the pair of them were stunned when the 40- times capped French international said ‘No’ because Dabo is his best pal.

Dabo himself has urged Silvestre to join Newcastle and so too has his agent, but the player is sticking to his guns.

And this would leave Baines firmly in Alardyce’s sights, with England Under-21 colleagues Steven Taylor and James Milner ready to throw out the red carpet for him at St James’ Park.

A source close to Baines told me today: "As far as he is concerned, Newcastle United have made a £5m bid for him."

Baines has already snubbed Sunderland and Everton, but the Chronicle revealed in May he would jump at the chance of coming to Newcastle, and this is still the case.

Big Sam is a big fan of the way Baines plays, but his only reservation is that he is a bit small for a left-back and this must leave John Beresford eating his heart out.

However, United’s need for a left- back is now bordering on being desperate and Baines could yet be granted his wish to come to St James’ Park.

Newcastle United are understood to be closing in on the signature of Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic.

The Magpies and Manchester City have both made contact, but it is Sam Allardyce who looks like winning the race to land the imposing stopper.

Sevilla have agreed to let Dragutinovic leave and a deal close to £2.5million is set to be agreed.

Newcastle have offered the centre-half, who can also play on the left, a three-year contract to move to St James' Park and the Serbian is keen on the switch.

"This is the financial opportunity of my life and do not want to reject it," Dragutinovic said.

Sevilla have already moved to sign Dragutinovic's replacement in the shape of Colombian Aquivaldo Mosquera, who has arrived from Mexican champions Pachuca.

The Uefa Cup holders have also agreed to sign Brazilian striker Igor Siqueira Pessanha on a five-year deal.

Cacapa and Dragutinovic had been great to get in the squad. We can't get enough defenders IMO and I will NEVER see Ramage and co in the defence again (if the goal is to get into Europe) I want new defenders on the bench too, that's why its so important that we sign a couple of new defenders more.

Newcastle in frame for Chelsea's Diarra

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to allow midfielder Lassana Diarra to leave.

Diarra has resisted offers to pen a new contract and is wanted by Arsenal. However, The Telegraph says Mourinho won't allow the Frenchman to move to the Gunners.

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is also keen on Diarra.

Sam Allardyce is in talks with Barcelona over a £3million bid to sign Brazil full back Juliano Belletti.

Belletti, who scored the winning goal in the Champions League Final against Arsenal in 2006, has been told he can leave the Spanish club.

Although the Newcastle boss has yet to be given permission to speak with the versatile 31-year-old, Allardyce is confident their offer will be accepted.
