Newcastle eyeing Fulham's Diop in swap

Quote:
Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is weighing up a swap offer for Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop.

The People says Newcastle are considering Fulham's Diop, who is valued at around £3million.

Any swap deal involving unsettled Charles N'Zogbia heading for Craven Cottage looks unlikely as the Toon want around £5m for the French flier.

Newcastle make cheeky offer for Bolton's Faye

Quote:
Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has returned to Bolton Wanderers in an attempt to land defender Abdoulaye Faye.

The People says Allardyce has gone back to The Reebok for the first time for one of his old players - and offered just £500,000 for the man he dubbed "a monster".

Wanderers supremo Phil Gartside is fuming about the offer, even with a further £500,000 thrown in based on appearances.

Cacapa offered to Newcastle

Quote:
Olympique Lyon defender Claudio Cacapa is being offered to Newcastle United.

The Sunday Sun says Sam Allardyce is to be offered the chance to land Brazilian stopper Cacapa, a free agent since leaving Lyon, ahead of Greek giants Panathinaikos.

Newcastle favourites for Bolton's Faye

Quote:
Newcastle United are favourites for Bolton Wanderers defender Abdoulaye Faye.

The Mirror says new contract demands by versatile giant Faye are way too high for Sammy Lee, who could let him go.

Allardyce has already bid £500,000 plus £500,000 in appearances for the Senegal international - but Bolton want £2m, and Birmingham and Wigan are also keen.

Lens midfielder Nenad Kovacevic is attracting Premiership interest. The 26 year-old Serbia international insists he's happy at Lens, but is being followed by Everton and Newcastle United.

We're getting linked to alot of players, but nothing happens. Premier League starts in 12 days, and still we have one of the thinnest squad in the Premiership.

I agree!

It started so well with Big Sam, MikeAshley, Geremi, Joey Barton, Rozenahl and Viduka + a lot of rumours.......but what now?

Barton is injured. Viduka is a subplayer. We don't really now Rozenahl yet and Geremi is a good sign, but he's not a superforce.

Yes, we also have many injures in the preseason now, also on Barton. We have a small squad and still players like Ramage, Huntington, etc...and our defence is still SHIT !

One of the problems is that this money crazyness have went mad this summer. £5 mill for Michael Chopra, £18 mill for Hargreaves, £23 mill for Pepe.....something is very wrong and its very difficult to buy players not, BECAUSE the clubs is not dependent on cash in anymore. Most of the guns have rich investors.

A club like N'castle shall fight top six in the EPL and play in Europe. Just forget it right now and we need maybe four new good players in....that will NEVER happen.

Newcastle has always been the big spenders, and so far this season we are one of the clubs that have spend least money. Even Sunderland has spent more money. We' were reported to have £50m transfer kitty, but where is the money? Where is the TV money that the other clubs are currently spending?

I'm slightly worried now.

A new owner normally means a slow-down on the market for the first couple of weeks. Policies have to be re-discussed, budgets have to be reset and money has to be moved around.

Although I'm not convinced that Allardyce actually knows what he wants now, in the side. I don't think he's set other targets yet, apart from Edmilson, the January project. I'd say he wants another defender, but no names have been mentioned, and I'd say he's also pondering over his midfield, not sure whether where and what to add.

Just read that Allardyce are close to making a significant breakthrough in the transfer market as he closed in on two of his defensive targets last night.

It is likely Ivica Dragutinovic from Sevilla and Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton. Not exactly exciting players, but we're in a desperat position at the moment with the season starting very soon, and considering we barely have defenders, we just have to do with whoever's coming in.

I have not a good feeling. I fear we'll end up with a OK squad and that those injures will arrive more and more through the season...and we'll have Ramage, Huntington and Carroll in the line again...

Positive is that we have Michael Owen, Oba Martins, Mark Viduka, Shola Ameobi and Alberto Luque as strikers....approved IMO.

But this team will never finish top four (with or without reinforcements) but never say never....I've taken wrong before fortunately!
