Seems kind of Allardyce-esque, putting forwards who can dribble wide, although Owen, by the way Allardyce identifies him as a goalscorer every time he talks about him, will most probably be central.

Fiorentina keen on Newcastle's N'Zogbia

Fiorentina have expressed interest in Newcastle United midfielder Charles N'Zogbia.

The young Frenchman has played his way back into Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce's plans in the past week, but Fiorentina remain keen on taking him to Italy.

N'Zogbia is contracted to Toon until 2009 and along with Fiorentina is also attracting interest from Premiership rivals Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and Fulham.

Newcastle must up offer for West Brom's Davies

Newcastle United must improve their bid for West Brom defender Curtis Davies.

The Times says Toon have already offered £6 million for Davies, but Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace is adamant that he will not be allowed to leave the Hawthorns for less than £8 million.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also ask to be kept informed of developments.

The Baggies are apparently close to signing a centre half from Luton, so maybe they're about to give up on trying to keep hold of Davies. But he is not worth £8m.

That's a question, but him saying that he wants to stay means he's not yet up for sale - if he wasn't wanted, he wouldn't pretend otherwise.

Plus Schuster's failed attempts of getting a midfielder in mean that Baptista is more than likely to be considered as a good option at Madrid - Emerson looks on the way out, and Baptista can take his place in the squad and give a more battling and attacking approach in midfield.

Reports in Italy are claiming that Premiership side Newcastle are considering making a move for unsettled Inter Milan defender Francesco Coco.

The 30-year-old side-back is up for grabs as he has gone public with his plans to find a club outside of Italy, after having failed once again to force his way into the plans of Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini.

Coco had actually been very close to moving to England last season, but a proposed transfer to Manchester City collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Once billed as the next great Italian left-back, the former Barcelona defender has suffered the indignity of training with Inter's youth team since returning from a loan spell with Torino.
