I hope N'castle will try to sign some great talents this preseason. Maybe som South Americans. There are plenty of undiscovered gold out there and its healthy to get talents to the club.

I read earlier today that Madrid were interested in Roysten Drenthe [Feyenoord], Alexandre Pato [Internacional] and Samir Nasri [Olympique Marseille]. They've already bringed in Higuain, Gago and Marcelo.

I want Magpies to copy this culture. I'm not saying that they shall bring in 100 of them, but maybe one or two.

Looks like we are after FC Copenhagens Brede Hangeland according to several papers today.

The Norwegian international have IMO a good potensial and the last matches he has impressed me in the defence for Norway. He has also been very good in the Danish league this season (like Agger once were)

I would be devestated if we end up signing Hangeland. He has played good in Norways two last matches, but he will never be good enough to play for a club like Newcastle.

I say NO to norwegian players!

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he is searching for a new left-back, even if the Newcastle boss insists Celestine Babayaro still has a future in the North East.

Allardyce has undertaken an ambitious rebuilding process after taking charge at St James' Park and his major priority is rebuilding a defence that has failed to inspire confidence over a number of seasons.

Titus Bramble, Olivier Bernard, Craig Moore and Oguchi Onyewu have all departed Tyneside, whilst Allardyce has signed Czech Republic central defender David Rozehnal and Chelsea's Geremi who can perform at right-back.

Despite flying out with his squad for a pre-season training camp in Austria on Tuesday, the former Bolton boss is determined to continue reshaping his backline and has targeted a new left-back.

"We will continue to move forward in the defensive areas," Allardyce told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

"David Rozehnal is a big signing, but we have got few defenders at the club because I let go one or two who were out of contract.

"That has left a big hole in that area and we have got to fill it with the best quality players we can find."

Reports have linked The Magpies with both Wayne Bridge of Chelsea and Wigan's Leighton Baines, but Allardyce insists that he has not ruled out the possibility of Nigerian international Babayaro staying in the North East.

"The left-back spot will be one of those positions we will fill," Allardyce continued. "Obviously, Babayaro is still with us.

"He did not figure that much last year, but I will be interested to see such a fine player and whether we can help him in any way to make him fitter, stronger and better so he can play and compete for Newcastle United in the last year of his contract."

Newcastle confident closing Edmilson deal for January

Quote:
Newcastle United will have to wait until January to complete the signing of Barcelona defender Edmilson.

The Evening Chronicle says doubts over the South American's fitness and wage demands have soured talk that the Barcelona ace is on his way to St James' Park.

But the player was flattered that United manager Sam Allardyce took time out to visit him and attempt to persuade him to ply his trade in the Premiership.

With Edmilson looking likely to be out for up to another five-and-a-half months, Allardyce will hope to welcome the player on January 1.

Default Allardyce eyes Queudrue deal

Quote:
FRANCK Queudrue is hoping to fill the problematic left-back position at St James’s Park after the former Middlesbrough favourite emerged as Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce’s latest defensive target.

The 28-year-old is desperate to leave Fulham after falling out with manager Lawrie Sanchez and, with his representatives having held an informal discussion with Newcastle officials, the French B international has set his heart on a return to the North-East.

Having this week signed Geremi to fill United’s troublesome right-back berth, a manager aware Celestine Babayaro’s fitness record leaves much to be desired has turned his attentions to strengthening his defence’s opposite flank. Queudrue iss among the players being considered.

Dominique Six, the player’s agent, has confirmed that Newcastle and Everton are both interested in the unsettled Parisian, who has made it known that he does not want to work under Sanchez’s stewardship following the former Northern Ireland boss’ appointment as Chris Coleman’s successor.

“Newcastle and Everton regard Franck as a possible signing,” he said last night. “Some Premier League clubs are looking for a left-back and Franck could be a good choice. He’s a professional and is under contract to Fulham. But if an opportunity occurs, I will definitely study it.”

With Wigan adamant Leighton Baines will not be sold this summer, Everton have switched their sights to Queudrue. But it seems that United are determined to put themselves into a strong position to compete for the player’s signature should Allardyce decide to firm up his initial interest with a bid.

The Journal understands that Magpies officials held a telephone conversation with the player’s representatives yesterday morning. Although nothing has been agreed at this stage, the discussion is believed to have been positive, and sources close to Queudrue are optimistic Newcastle will make contact with Fulham to discuss a deal.

Queudrue ended his five-year association with Boro last summer to sign for Coleman. But the Welshman’s dismissal and Sanchez’s subsequent arrival have prompted him to consider his future. Queudrue is unimpressed with his manager’s tactics and Sanchez is seeking another left-back, having tabled an unsuccessful £1m bid for Southampton’s Chris Baird last month.

The former Lens defender has held talks with the French club, but his Premier League wages have proved prohibitive. Queudrue’s wife is unsettled in London and a return to the North-East is understood to appeal. The player favours Newcastle and is hoping a move will materialise.

It remains to be seen whether Allardyce will sanction an official approach as he attempts to make his fifth summer signing. Chris Mort – the man with the power in the United boardroom – this week insisted further funds are available and the Magpies boss will be keen to use them.

icNewcastle - Allardyce eyes Queudrue deal

He's better than Babayaro, but surely we can do better than signing him. He makes some stupid challenges. Think we've had enough of defenders giving away silly free kicks.
He isn't good enough to be first choice left back, but apparently Big Sam is after two leftbacks, so I can live with having Queudrue as backup.

Deco deal done?

Quote:
A story which broke on Sunday in the News of the World concerning our interest in Deco of Barcelona appears to have moved on quickly, Monday bringing claims from credible sources that the player is expected on Tyneside for a medical this week.

Spanish newspapers reported last month that the 29 year-old Brazilian-born Portuguese international midfielder was on a list of players who had been declared surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.

Well if this is true, nufc.com is reliable, it will be one hell of a signing. The prospect of him at Newcastle is genuinely exciting to me but my head says there's no chance of this happening. There would be far too much competition from teams in Europe for him to come to Tyneside.

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce could be ready to make an audacious bid to persuade Gabriel Heinze to swap Old Trafford for St James' Park.

Allardyce, backed by new Magpies owner Mike Ashley, is considering a move for the 29-year-old Manchester United defender, who is considering his future.

However, he would face stiff competition for the Argentina international, who was last week linked with United's north-west rivals Liverpool, with continental giants Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona also keeping tabs on him.

Allardyce has made the recruitment of a left-back a major priority after landing striker Mark Viduka, midfielders Joey Barton and Geremi and central defender David Rozehnal.

Deputy chairman Chris Mort last week revealed there is money in the kitty for further acquisitions and forecast "a couple" more signings.

The Magpies have privately played down speculation linking them with Barcelona midfielder Deco and Real Madrid star Raul, although their interest in Heinze is more concrete.

The former Paris St Germain defender, who cost United £6.9million in July 2004, found himself in direct competition with France international Patrice Evra last season.

There have been rumours since that the player is less than settled and could exercise his right to buy himself out of his contract at Old Trafford.

Where Liverpool's hopes of luring the South American to Anfield may be scuppered by the rivalry between the two clubs, Newcastle have done business with United on several occasions during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign.

Keith Gillespie and Nicky Butt have both crossed the Pennines for St James' while Giuseppe Rossi spent three months on loan on Tyneside last season, although Ferguson was less than impressed with his lack of senior football.

Heinze, who played for his country in their 4-0 Copa America victory over Peru in Venezuela, will seek assurances over his future on his return, although he has previously hinted he could leave the Premier League champions if the right offer came along.

For all Newcastle would face a monumental battle to capture the player should he become available, Allardyce had a commendable record for attracting impressive signings to Bolton with the likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Jay-Jay Okocha, Ivan Campo, Fernando Hierro and Nicolas Anelka all heading for the Reebok Stadium during his reign.

He has already admitted he has benefited from greater pulling power since taking over from Glenn Roeder at Newcastle, although just how far that extends remains to be seen.

Defender Steven Taylor, however, is confident the manager's track record will serve the club well.

He said: "You have to respect Sam after the big names he signed at Bolton.

"Some of the players he attracted had Champions League winners' medals and title medals.

"There is no reason why he won't do that at Newcastle United.

"Not only will he attract top players, but he will get the respect - he already has the respect of the players here."

Taylor is currently recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during England's European Under-21 Championship campaign as his team-mates approach the end of their pre-season training camp in Austria.

The 21-year-old is relishing the task of developing his game under Allardyce and is confident the new manager will help restore the reputation of St James' as a fortress.

He said: "We would like to be hated - people hated Bolton for the way they played, and I would be happy with that. It has been successful the way they have been playing.

"I think one thing we need to bring up here is to make everyone hate coming to St James' Park.

"We need to make it a horrible place to come to now."

it would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle, if Sam manages to lure him there.

We have bigger chance in signing Heinze than Liverpool, I think. But if Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in him, we aren't able to put in a fight for his signature.

It seems Wenger will go for Martins and if he does there is nothing Newcastle can do to stop him.Wenger have landed Bakari and Martins is next on wanted list according to the daily mail.
