West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley is ready to pounce for Newcastle captain Scott Parker.

Curbishley hopes to land Parker for £8 million, but will have to wait until Newcastle's takeover rumblings are cleared up.

Gretna are closing in on Newcastle United defender Kris Gate.

The Evening Chronicle says the 22-year-old has been resigned to leaving United in recent months after graduating from the Academy and skippering the reserves, but leaves the club gutted at not making a first-team appearance.

Well, when you're not good enough you need to find a new destination.

I would sell Parker for £8m. He's been shite for one year now. It seems to me that he never recoverd from the glandular fever.

I don't think glandular fever is quite cruciate ligament stuff, and he did do very well for you when he signed. Best not to be hasty towards a player who was, before this season, and could be, a huge asset to your club.

He's had several disputes with the fans and that isn't a captain worthy.

Parker seems to be on his way out of the club.I'm pretty sure Big Sam want to sell him for £8M if that offer will be on the table.

If Parker leaves, then I suspect Big Sam will go for Kevin Nolan as Parkers replacement.

Default Big Sam to bid for Ghana's Boateng

Quote:
Sam Allardyce is set to make the Ghana international Derek Boateng his first signing at Newcastle United. The expected arrival of the 24-year-old is a clear sign that the new manager wants to overhaul his midfield as well as defence with the injury-prone and high-earning Kieron Dyer, who has interested Tottenham Hotspur, unlikely to figure in Allardyce's plans.

Newcastle are also aware of West Ham United's strong interest in buying Scott Parker, who has failed to settle in the north-east and, according to sources, the club is prepared to let their captain go if they receive an acceptable bid. Newcastle want at least £7m for Parker.

Boateng, a striker who has been converted into an attacking midfielder, plays for the Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem. Allardyce has been tracking him for some time and had earmarked him as a recruit for Bolton.

Although the transfer fee is thought to be less than £1m, Boateng has had an outstanding season at Beitar, having moved there last summer when he signed a three-year contract. He had previously played in Greece and Sweden and represented Ghana in last summer's World Cup.

Boateng has yet to fulfil his potential although he has thrived in Israel. Four years ago Middlesbrough attempted to sign him but the bid failed because he could not secure a work permit. Since then he has become a regular international and now partners Michael Essien in the heart of midfield for his country.

Boateng may not be a high-profile signing but he is the kind of imaginative arrival that was the hallmark of Allardyce's time at Bolton. Having missed out on Steve Sidwell, who has moved to Chelsea from Reading after initially indicating he would move to St James' Park, he also represents the attacking threat that Allardyce feels Newcastle lack from the centre of midfield.

So Allardyce want to get rid of Dyer...A typical move for Spurs...Re-union Dyer and Jenas on the midfield...

Newcastle to meet West Brom's £10M price for Davies

Quote:
Newcastle United are ready to bid for West Brom captain Curtis Davies.

The Daily Mail says the outstanding young central defender has no shortage of admirers in the top flight with Newcastle heading the queue for a player valued at around £10million by the Baggies.

Tottenham have also tracked the former Luton player for a considerable amount of time but are more likely to strengthen their defence by splashing out on France Under-21 captain Younes Kaboul from Auxerre at a fraction of the price.

And Arsenal may also consider his valuation too high as they chase the firepower needed to round off the silky skills outside the penalty area.

£10M sounds alot of money for a Championship player. The only way this signing will happen is if Ashley takes over the controll.

Hammers eye Parker as Allardyce considers Barton move

Quote:
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is expected to trigger a midfield merry-go-round by tabling a £7m bid for Newcastle captain Scott Parker.

Nigel Reo-Coker, who reportedly handed in a transfer request at Upton Park on Saturday, could be used as a makeweight in a deal to snare Parker.

Former Charlton and Chelsea player Parker is believed to want to return to the south.

Aston Villa are interested in Reo-Coker after they failed to land Steve Sidwell from Reading.

But Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is thought to prefer Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton, who is also attracting interest from Middlesbrough.

West Ham are interested in the Newcastle captain and Parker is believed to want to return to London
