I think Gilberto would adapt better to that formation than better and IMO Gilberto > Parker.

If Newscastle could arrange that deal, it would be great.

Yes, you're right. Roeder keeps thinking that Parker is our Steven Gerrard. If he kept Parker as DM, and used Emre as AM, we would have been better off. Neither Parker or Emre finds their positions and that's been one of our big problems this season. They don't know who's gonna be the most attacking minded. Last season, under Roeder, he used Parker as DM and Emre as AM, and that gave results. If we signed Gilberto, he would be used as DM and that would make sure that we have more balance in the team.

Are Newcastle's wingers good enough ? Because maybe Roeder could try a 4-3-3 like they play at Porto:

..............Given
xxx....xxx.....xxx....xxx
.............Parker
.....xxx........Emre
xxx.......Owen......Martins

[I don't know who are the other players ]

I rate Gilberto higher than Parker but I will be surprised Wenger will let his capain (when Henry don't play) go.Gilberto is real important for Wenger's young team.

It could work well, but with Roeder in charge I doubt it. If we had a gameplan and a new defence it would be interessting to try this formation out. But Roeder is oldfashioned and uses only 4-4-2 and 4-5-1.

I don't think Sidwell will reinforce Newcastle much.Is he good enough to play regular? Can Parker and Sidwell play together?Too much alike I think.Emre is a first choice.

He might be good player but we need more creativity in midfield and I doubt he can produce that for us.
Also if we sign him next season we wil have Butt,Parker,Sidwell which I don't think would be too good for us because they are too similar players. But a good strenght in depth is always welcomed.

Default Tottenham facing wages dilemma over Dyer

Quote:
Kieron Dyer has emerged as a summer transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, although acquiring the Newcastle United midfield player would require a significant shift in the London club’s wage policy.

While the 27-year-old represents the prototype Martin Jol signing – he is English, quick and versatile – his present earnings far outstrip the maximum outlay at White Hart Lane.

Dyer commands a weekly wage of more than £80,000 at St James’ Park, almost double what Tottenham are understood to pay Robbie Keane, their highest earner.

While the England player may be prepared to lower his demands to revitalise his career away from the North East, where he has endured some difficult times, the difference in earnings may prove prohibitive.

As yet, there is not thought to have been substantive contact between the clubs, while the player, who has now been on Tyneside for eight years, has not expressed any public desire to leave. Indeed, he has previously said he wants to repay the club’s loyalty after a complex range of injuries.

Yet, having failed on numerous occasions to prise Stewart Downing away from Middlesbrough, Jol, the head coach, remains in the market for pace and penetration and Dyer’s ability to fill several roles could prove attractive. At times this season, he has played in wide positions, in central midfield and in attack; it is the latter quality – he has scored six goals – which may raise further questions concerning the future at Tottenham of Jermain Defoe.

Tottenham facing wages dilemma over Dyer-Sport-Football-Premiership-Tottenham-TimesOnline

£6m would be an offer we couldn't turn down when you consider his wages and injury record. We would save a fortune in wage, I've always felt that Dyer has never lived up to his potential.

Spurs are stupid if Dyer is the player that they break their wage structure for. His main plus point is his pace and at 27 or whatever I wonder how much longer he can keep it. To me it makes good financial sense to sell now and fund a replacement on cheaper wages. imo he's not played enough for us and consistently well to be indispensable, and he's surely too expensive to keep.

Default Kieron Going Nowhere Says Gaffer

Quote:
GLENN Roeder has rubbished rumours linking Kieron Dyer with a move away from Gallowgate and has insisted he will be at United next season.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a consistent run of games this season after finally overcoming a longstanding hamstring problem which was threatening to curtail his career.

And gaffer Roeder has laughed suggestions the England midfielder will be sold in the summer.

The 51-year-old boss told nufc.co.uk: "Kieron has had more stops than starts but now he has proved himself fully fit again and had a long run of uniterrupted games.

"So why on earth would I want to lose Kieron Dyer after spending so much time with him to get him over his injuries and them allow him to leave.

"He is a huge player for us, he can open up defences and no-one can run better at pace with the ball.

"He is a big asset to Newcastle United and I'm certain he will be playing for us next season.

"The story is total non-sense."
