Default Roeder not keen on Gavrancic

Quote:
Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder has decided not to make a move for Dynamo Kiev defender Goran Gavrancic.

The 28-year-old, an international team-mate of Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic, was ready to fly to the north-east from his club's winter training camp in Tel Aviv to seal a loan move.

However, Toon boss Roeder has decided not to bring Gavrancic to the club, although he insists he will have new faces on board by the time the window closes on Wednesday.

He said: "I have conducted my own investigations into Gavrancic and decided he is not a player we will be signing.

"I have been told by people I respect, and who know what they are talking about, that he is no better than the defenders we already have at St James' Park.

"But, while Gavrancic is not coming, that does not mean we have slackened off in our efforts to bring a couple of players in before the transfer window closes next Wednesday.

"The four or five players we have targeted are still with their clubs and I can put my hand on my heart and honestly say that we have not wanted any of the players who have already moved in the transfer window.

"I can only repeat what I have already said, and that is I will not panic or lose my nerve and I will not bring players in for the sake of adding another body to our squad."

Meanwhile, Roeder played down speculation that Standard Liege's United States defender Oguchi Onyewu, who was considered as an option by derby rivals Middlesbrough during the summer, is a target.

I read earlier today some place that N'castle not shall bring in any reinforcements.

WHAT? That's shocking. Pattison, O'Brian, Huntington, Ramage....this is the backup players we shall use rest of the season?

We've also been linked with unknown players in Holland and Belgium...but nothing happens.

What is going on? Newcastle United is a big club when it comes to stadium, fans, economy and popularity, and their goal is to be top four in the PL and enter Europe. Can we do that with Roeder and all his great talents?

Pathetic. Players in the Norwegian league had done a better job that Pattison and all that shit. NUFC are the injure club in GB and it looks like the talents at the second team is horrible bad.

Glenn Roeder and the managment OUT!

We simply don't have money. Scumness used it all on crap like Boumsong, Luque etc... We're doomed without new defenders.

"I know about two clubs who are interested in buying him," Zika told CTK.

"But PSG do not want to release him at present."

Default Coloccini

Quote:
Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is hoping to secure the signature of Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini before next week's transfer deadline.

The Deportivo de La Coruna defender has been capped 25 times for his national side and scored his only goal against Cameroon.

The 25-year-old was part of the 2006 World Cup squad and featured in the Holland game and quarter-final match against Germany.

The Magpies have Damien Duff, Antoine Siberski, Titus Bramble, Emre and Celestine Babayaro on the treatment table and Roeder has so far been frustrated in his attempts to bolster his injury-hit squad.

But he is now hoping his persistence is rewarded with the capture of Coloccini, who was chased by Manchester United in 2001 when he was playing for AC Milan. United were ready to spend £9million but the Argentine hardman moved to Atletico Madrid instead.

Default Ajax confirm Newcastle interest for Babel

Quote:
Ajax director of football, Martin van Geel, has today confirmed reports that Newcastle United have made an approach for striker Ryan Babel. According to reports in Holland, Newcastle have tabled a bid in the region of £5 million plus Albert Luque.

Both Martin van Geel and Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd have confirmed Newcastle's interest for the pacey forward. Van Geel denied reports of an official £5 million bid though.

Ajax will decide in the next 48 hours whether they will let Ryan Babel go.

As reported earlier, Newcastle are ready to involve Spanish misfit Albert Luque in the deal. PSV manager Ronald Koeman have rekindled his interest in the player today by stating that he would love to add him to his squad before the end of the January transfer window.

Default Emre wants Galatasaray return

Quote:
Emre is ready to quit Newcastle United at the end of this season.
The Mirror says Newcastle's under-fire Turkish midfielder has pleaded with former club Galatasaray to sign him.

And his agent Ahmet Bulut has also been in contact with German giants Bayern Munich to alert them about his potential availability.

Emre's decision to seek a move away comes after being caught up in THREE separate accusations of racist abuse.

Well Santa Cruz is in his perfect age, and from what I have seen of him he's good in the air and has some skill. Good experience too. I guess he wouldn't be any expensive either.

Default Newcastle's audacious bid for Man Utd target

Quote:
According to German press, Newcastle United are planning an audacious bid to secure England star Owen Hargreaves.

With Emre likely to depart at the end of the season, Toon boss Glenn Roeder is looking for a player with the same characteristics as the Turkish international and has identified Owen Hargreaves as a potential replacement.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the last months, but a serious injury scuppered Ferguson’s plans.

Now, Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a player plus cash deal that Bayern Munich may find hard to turn down.

The Magpies are preparing to offer £12.5m plus Belozoglu Emre to secure the services of the highly-rated midfielder.

Hargreaves is not what we need. We need creativity in there not another player like Butt and Parker. He is problably going to Man Utd anyway.

Chelsea are chasing Newcastle United's homegrown defender Steven Taylor.
The Sunday Sun says Chelsea raised the idea of Taylor in January during discussions about a move for Shaun Wright-Phillips from Stamford Bridge to St James's Park.

And although they were given no encouragement by United - as they were when they asked after Obafemi Martins - Chelsea maintain an interest in t
