Ayala has started a very big fight against his club Valencia and is on the way out of Mestalla.
Ivan Helguera will probably be his replacer.
Had Ayala been a great defender to have in the squad for N'castle? I think so. Rumours says the price is just £2million.

I'm really worried about our lack of signings now. Things have to happen soon.

Magpies may steal John from Fulham
Newcastle are reported to have agreed a £5million fee with Fulham for the transfer of Holland international striker Collins John.
Cottagers ace John, 20, was the club's leading scorer in the Premiership last season with 11 goals, despite only making 16 league starts.
According to The Guardian, Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd believes the Dutchman can make a real impact at St James' Park and is attempting to push through a transfer before the big kick-off this weekend.

The only way we could possibly have got him was to have set out from the start to impress on him and his agent how much we wanted him. All this will-we won't-we stuff was doomed from the start.

Newcastle eye Russian hotshot
Newcastle are considering a move for Russia sharpshooter Alexander Kerzhakov - after missing out on top target Dirk Kuyt.
Toon boss Glenn Roeder has been pursuing Dutch international Kuyt for the entire summer but has conceded defeat in landing the Feyenoord man, who is set for a £10million switch to Liverpool.
Clubcall understands that Newcastle could now switch their attention to Zenit St Petersburg frontman Kerzhakov.
The Russian international is also believed to be a target for UEFA Cup holders Sevilla.
Kerzhakov, 23, is one of the most predatory strikers in his home country with a record of 95 goals in 197 matches.
The pacy frontman, a similar type of goalpoacher as Michael Owen, was voted Russian player of the year last season and finished the previous campaign as top scorer with 17 goals in 27 matches.

My question is;
Is the transfer account in Newcastle empty?
No clubs have spend so much money the last years than Newcastle, and NOT achieve a result.
Owen coast us £17m, Luque almost £9m. That is £26million ( Over 300 millioner norske kroner ) And then we have Duff, Parker, Emre, Babayaro, Solano, etc..
Newcastle are spending more than AC Milan, etc..
The PL starts tomorrow and we have to play one single striker (Shola Ameobi) Yes, he'll score some goals against LSK and Flora Tallin, but not against Liverpool, ManUtd, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, etc..
He is alone on top. 4-5-1. Horrible formation.
Yes we got Duff. But the last thing we should reinforce, were the midfield. Newcastle United need S T R I K E R S and D E F E N D E R S.
I am not sure, but I have a bad feeling that there are no money available. Perhaps just a small sum like £5mill or something.
We gott Duff extreamly cheap too because Chelsea wanted him to St.James.Park, and not Anfield. They doesen't see Magpies as a rival in the PL. That's why.

I think it's obvious this season we'll be more reliant than ever on key players staying fit. We have a very thin squad, we won't be able to remedy any long term injuries until January. It strikes me that we are either confident that last season's persistent string of soft tissue injuries (hamstring, groin etc) are not going to be repeated, or we're trusting to luck. Obviously you can't do anything about freak injuries & illnesses but we are also banking on the likes of Emre, Dyer, Luque, Carr, Baba etc not to break down again, not to mention Shola's dodgy hip, and as is well known we are currently very short of cover in certain areas like full back and striker.
I know that Souness and his cronies were very amateurish in their approach to fitness and rehabilitation, and that Roeder pays more attention to this, involving Winsper etc. However as much as the lack of transfers may be worrying, we seem to be placing a lot of reliance on a few key players to stay fit. For instance if Moore did his hamstring again and Taylor his shoulder, we could be left with a CB pool of Ramage, Boumsong and Bramble to pick from, assuming Boum stays put. Oh dear.
Saying all that leads me to two questions; is this season going to be different on the injury front? Was last season's injury record all about Souness' incompetence?

I think Newcastle has always had a injury problem, most players like dyer is injury prone, alsk 17m for owen was a stupid deal i thought, not only was he always injured but the amount spent on him, that was ridiculous,
i agree with ken alot, although through the last few weeks roeder has inspired the team to give their maxium effort, will he always rely on a few key players.
we do need more strikers and competent defenders, having boumsong in defence is just saying we are going to lose, i do not think Bramble is useless but he needs someone to guide him and order him about (Moore) maybe but yeah, the game against wigan will be a eye-opener, as if the friendlies hasnt shown the incompetence of our defence.
I understand that roeder doesnt want to waste alot of money on useless players but with so many good signings that went on why are we still waiting? i just hope he hurries up and signs some good players..

This transfer window has a simular smell to last years... not very nice.
If Freddy or Roeder think we can survice with what we have got - they are both fooking stupid. Leaving it till the last min does not reduce the cost, it increases it. We have known more months that Shearer was retiring - you would have thought a target list was drawn up long ago.
It probably was, then a certian Mr Souness comes along and spunks the lot. Some could argue Owen was his replacement - fair enough. Now we just need to replace Shola, Luque and one more to get the the four strikers all the top four clubs have.
Things have to happen this week or we are in the shite. Simple as that really.

Ok Looks like we have pretty much bought Martin ....
how about our defence, do you think roeder will buy one or is he just planning to stick with Moore and Bramble ?
he did say he hopes to see 3 signings, i have a feeling 1 is gravesen, so that leaves 1 more if he is speaking the truth

The third player Roeder is after is Bridge. And if we can get him, then our defence is already improved. I would liked him to sign a CB before the deadline as Boumsong is most likely going to Juventus, but I think it is to little time. We just have to hope that Taylor,Moore and Bramble can stay fit. We should have get Campbell though.

Magpies target Huth
Newcastle are set to swoop for Chelsea defender Robert Huth after offloading Jean-Alain Boumsong to Juventus for £3.3million.
Magpies boss Glenn Roeder has managed to get rid of the French defender to the Turin giants and that has cleared the way for a swoop on Stamford Bridge.
Huth saw a move to Middlesbrough collapse over the summer after he failed a medical but reports claim he could now be heading to the North East, this time with Newcastle.
Roeder is also said to be keen on Wayne Bridge but it looks as though Blues boss Jose Mourinho has no intention of selling the only out-and-out left-back he has at the club.
