Just read that Fat Fred plans to sue FIFA for £25m. Can't see why fifa would be sued...They are just the organisers of the tournament surely?
More like the FA?

An absolute nonsense that. A publicity stunt no doubt.

As I explained earlier the injury he got could quite easily have been attained outside of match or training conditions.
You could ask for compensation if it was a bad tackle...but not from just slipping.

Clubs who "loan" their players to International teams should receive some form of compensation if their players are injured whilst on International duty. I'm a firm believer in this, and always have been.
It's irrelevant how they got injured. If they are on International duty and they get injured, that Country's FA should compensate the club. I couldn't care less if Owen had ruptured his loin chops doing a salsa dance dressed in Sol's Gimp outfit. He was on International duty and from the minute you leave to represent England until the minute you return to your club, you are under England's control.
A point about strikers. Somebody mentioned Dean Ashton for Newcastle. What a great shout. I think he has the ability to be the next Shearer and wouldn't mind him for Man Utd tbh.

Star return boosts Magpies
Newcastle have been boosted by the news Scott Parker is back in training and is looking fit ahead of the new season.
The midfielder was forced to sit out the end of last season with glandular fever but the former Chelsea man is now back to full fitness and boss Glenn Roeder cannot wait to have him back in the first team.
When fit Parker will be a hugely influential player in the Magpies midfield and Roeder says it was good to see him back on the training ground when the players returned for pre-season yesterday.
"It was particularly nice to see Scotty Parker back and he's already got through quite a lot of running," Roeder revealed. "He looks full of energy and it's great to see him back after glandular fever.
"He had a hugely successful and consistent first season and we're looking forward to what his second season at Newcastle will bring."

Owen's knee not as bad as first thought!
Owen boosted by scan result
Michael Owen has received a "big bonus" in his bid to recover from a knee injury after scans revealed only his anterior cruciate ligament was ruptured while playing for England.
The 26-year-old fell awkwardly in the opening minute of the World Cup clash against Sweden in Cologne, with fears he may have also damaged the medial ligament.
Owen will meet top knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman, the man who saved the careers of both Alan Shearer and Craig Bellamy, in America early in the week and will have surgery.
Although the good news may not necessarily speed the Newcastle striker's return to action, it could affect his confidence during rehabilitation. He is expected to be out until New Year.
"We've had all the scans done over here, basically we're thinking from what the scans say that it's a cruciate," said Owen on Newcastle's official website.
"It's a rupture, you can't see the cruciate on the scan so it's obviously floating about somewhere in the knee, but apart from that there is minimal damage.
"There is nothing else that needs operating on, so that is a big bonus.
"Not so much of a bonus in terms of time limits, but just in coming back where you have just one injury to come back from and not plenty of things going on in your knee."

Owen faces wait for more surgery
Newcastle and England striker Michael Owen will have to wait another eight weeks to have his ruptured cruciate ligament repaired.
The 26-year-old England international travelled to the Colorado clinic of specialist Dr Richard Steadman earlier this week, but will return home next week having undergone a procedure to treat a cartilage problem. He will then face a second trip.
Manager Glenn Roeder told the club's official website: "I spoke to our club doctor Roddy McDonald after the first stage of the procedure had been done, and he explained to me what the second stage would involve, and that it could take place in eight weeks' time."

According to some papers, Owen will be out for eight months..and then it will take a month to get 100 %.
I have no words...Owen is too frail and we gave £16 million for him. Madrid can laugh all the way to the bank, something Toon has done with Woody.
Wayne Rooney should've been bought in the day Northern Rock and Shep had financed the transfer, but its always easy to be wise after the event.

8 weeks from today means he will only be available for pre-training on or after the 3rd August.
He'll be out until Christmas IMO.

Dyer's eyes on United return
Kieron Dyer is aiming to make his latest comeback from persistent hamstring problems in September after a summer of meticulous rehabilitation.
Dyer was forced to watch England's ultimately doomed World Cup campaign as a spectator after a disastrous season of injuries with the Magpies.
The midfielder managed just 11 appearances - of which only three were starts - as the joy at signing a new four-year contract at St James's Park last summer gradually gave way to despair.
In the four years since England's previous World Cup bid in Japan and South Korea, Dyer has made just 98 Premiership appearances as a series of niggling physical problems have eaten away at his career. In the last two campaigns, he has appeared in only 36 United matches, with just under half of his outings coming from the substitutes' bench.
But, while there were some suggestions that the England international's career was in jeopardy following his third hamstring breakdown of last season, the 27-year-old is nearing the end of a successful four-month rehabilitation programme.
Should his specialist in London and Newcastle's medical staff then feel the build-up work is complete - and the early indications are good - Dyer will be given the all-clear to join up with the rest of the squad and resume full training.
While Roeder will be delighted to have Dyer back among his first team players, United's manager has told the injury-plagued star that, unlike previous regimes, he will not rush him into a return or do anything that might undo the hours of hard work he has done this summer.
Nevertheless, while Roeder will resist the temptation to throw Dyer back into the fray, the former Newcastle centre-half also knows that he desperately needs the attacking midfielder to be firing on all cylinders sooner rather than later.

Kieron Dyer - The biggest waste of talent in The Premiership.
When he leaves Newcastle, he's going one way. DOWN.

In an attempt to be optimistic, a fit Dyer along with a vastly improved Milner does give Roeder more options and is like two new signings already.
