Michael Owen is soon Magpie! I had never belive that.
Scott Parker, Albert Luque, Emre, Jean Alain Boumsong and Michael Owen its not that bad signs from Shep/Souness. Too much money, but who cares, Owen is a great sign and remember that he is more than just a football player. Its important to get profils into the club.
Michael Owen wants playing time to WC in Germany, and he will get that in Newcastle. Rumours says that he can leave the club next season for an unknown fee and that it is a big chance that he will do that. But now he has to impress Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Real Madrid will get almost £17 million for him, and they bought him for £9 million in 2004. Owens sponsor deal + shirt sale - his wage = £2 -£3 million+
Also, Real Madrid have earned about £12 million on Mickey.

Newcastle have a decent squad ... now all they need is a decent manager.
:dumb:
Btw where did Newcastle get all that money from ???
Emre 6m + Parker 6.5m + Luque 9.5m + Owen 17m = 39m !!

Good signing - hugely overpriced however and he'll only work if chances are created for him. How will you accomodate Shearer, Luque and Owen this season? Will Shearer be happy to take a backseat role for his final season or will one of the multi-million pound signings be on the bench?
Difficult to see how he will fit into the side at the moment - he certainly needs good players around him and so far Newcastle haven't created the chances, but the season's still young so on one hand he could be exactly what the need; on the other he could be ineffective if your lack of creativity continues.
And whilst he is a big name signing, I would have reservations about him if I were a Newcastle fan; he obviousdly doesn't care for the club, so you can hardly pretend he joined because you're a big club - he joined because, apart from Everton, Newcastle were the only side to make a bid for him and he wouldn't get into the world cup squad if he wasn't playing regular football. Owen isn't the type of player Everton need I don't think anyway - they need someone to hold it up rather than run onto balls.
He could fit into the Newcastle side well in that case - but surely he has to do a lot before he wins over the St James' crowd after he made it clear he didn't really want to join?

I can see him leaving after the world cup if newcastle have a very poor season. But i doubt any of the top clubs would pay £17m for him.
Also i remember last season he said he left the dippers to win more trophies

I assume he came to us coz the dippers didn't make an offer.
My team:
----------Shearer/Luque-----Owen----
----------------Luque/Dyer------------
-------Emre--parker--jenas/bowyer/dyer
baba-----boumson---Taylor/bramble----Taylor/carr
----------------------Given-----------------------
Good team on papaer, absolutely shocking manager. Mid-table at best tbh unless the team gel and the manager isn't needed to be tactical. Maybe owen will move to blackburn or somewhere next year in search of trophies??
Btw, we had 25 million to spend at the start of summer, (money left from last year plus normal spending amount), and that has gone on luque and owen, emre (only 3.8 million, not 6) and parker, were funded by the sales of our other players.

Hopefully Owen's arrival will kick-start to our shocking start of the season.

Jokes and pokes asside, good luck to NC and Owen. I have visited NC and have found your lot to be very welcoming and passionate about your team!
Get rid of Souness nice and early and you could easily get in the top 7 for a Euro-spot next year...

Its weird because i'm very pleased we've got a player, but at the same time, it means both souness and fat fred have come through. I dont rate souness in the slightest, but he's been unlucky this season with injuries and signings not happening so i wasn't mad at him. But freddy has pulled one out of the bag, and it has basically put a stop to the anti shepard supporters for the season.
However, no more excuses for souness, and if we dont get results in the next month or so, it will be his time to go. However, in the course of two weeks, we have gone from no hopers to a team on papaer, easily capable of top six imo, and unfortunately looking like we have a chairman willing to spend (35 million is way more than other teams bar chelsea), so if souness is sacked, we may not be such a bad possibility for managers, and we could probably do better than the likes of steve bruce and o'leary.

>> Rumours says that he has a clausul in the contract that other clubs can buy him next season for £12 million. Also, the worst who can happen is that he sign for a other club next season, and that N'castle have used £5million + wage on him for just one season.
