16 million seems the likely amount.
So its down to whether he joins his home town club (ish), with a very good manager, realistic trophy chances and a team capable of playing well. OR a club with a tw@t of a chairman, a bollocks manager, and a team who dont play well and won't win anything in it's current state.

Its funny how he is the number 1 england striker but the top 4 clubs dont want him. I would welcome him at united but i dont know how Owen can stay at Madrid now.

Also though, he has said he is interested in a loan move to us, where as our reports are for a cash bid, so the situation isn't even clear if liverpool don't bid.

Also, owen will go for a liverpool move anytime over a move to us, so why not just go for the loan bid, and then spend about 10 million on the cash to buy luque for example or any other target, and hope liverpool dont bid. its just seems stupid that Fat fred the tw@t wont spend 5 million on boa morte but splash 16-18 million on owen (i know he's a btter player but still considerably more money), who isn't particularly wanting to play for us.
Its just that if the bid is up to 18 million quid (some sources quote that, plus 10 million more than what madrid paid liverpool ffs), that is good enough for two quality players that can help us achieve european placing, and less chance of risk if owen gets injured/off form.
yes i would like owen at the club, but the price is to some extent to high, and it seems to carry on our tradition of overspending on players and under selling our own players. PLUS the main point, it could just be our w@nker of a chairman making a bid to look positive and ambitious in the hope liverpool make a bid (ie like rooney), so the fans had hope but ultimately it was just another publicity stunt. It just seems completely out of character for our ******** chairman to splash on a club record, when he couldn't finalise a deal for a player who costs 11 million quid less.

You need a striker but Owen is not worth that silly amount, he is a good player but because he is on the bench at Real and is not needed at the club you should get him for around 10m.

That's what i think, to pay 7-10 million more for an unwanted player, compared to how much they played for a first team player whilst at liverpool makes no sense. I have heard tho that there is some link to the woodgate deal, don't know what tho??

seems a strange one to me.
16 million is a huge gamble....owen doesnt score goals unless the team is playing well....he isnt the player he was years ago that could dribble past 3 players and score from 20 yards.
this is all another popularity attempt from freddy ****head.

Agreed, Owen is not the player he was. He's been seriously around for 7 to 8 years now and already his best days might be behind him, bit like Robbie Folwer, he was a goal-scoring genius in his early Liverpool days but faded considerably as he hit his mid to late 20's. Robbie at 20 was a better player than Owen at 20 but he didn't get anywhere near as much hype about him...
16 to 18 million is far too much for a player that was sold for only 8M the season before. He will not deliver enough to warrent that ammount of cash, 10M max or forget it...

Yes, its all up to Michael Owen now!
I can find it hard to see him joining tyneside. No CL or UEFA and top 5 in PL will be difficult.
Its no doubt that Owen is a good striker, and remember that he is more than just a footballer. He is an Galactico, and N'castle can earn extra money on him. But £16 million is a lot of money for N'castle, and I hope they don't use every single coin on just Owen.
No Luque, but £16 million for Owen..and if he says no..what will then happen?

real madrid will have to buy another striker or promote a youngster now.....they need 5 imo.
baptista/ronaldo and raul will start....that leaves on robinho on the bench.

Michael Owen coast £8 million because his contract ended the next year. IMO he is worth more than £10 million, he isn't that bad. He has actually impressed me in La Liga and for Real Madrid. No doubt that he is a quality striker.
We must also remember that Michael Owen is more than a footballer. But the question is, £16 million is much money, espesially for The Magpies.

I dont think he will be particularly good for us, because we are ****e, he is a very good poacher, but at the same time, how many chances are we going to create per game, 1-5 possibly, and he could easily lose form and end up ont scoring, and we all see how bad he is when he loses confidence and has a goal drought.

>> Well, I can be agree with that. Around £12 million + some % for next transfer had been great for both teams.
