ameobi is a very good stop gap and if he can maintain some of his performances into some sort of "form" then he would be a decent replacement.

Its a tough one, because he did play well in that position but played awful since bellamy left, and he simply doesnt score goals, and it is a big risk dropping shearer for ameobi as that is the only way to develop his game because they simply dont play well as partners. he is an ok back up but doesnt score and therefore can never be first team imo.

he can score....all im saying is that there is a manager somewhere thay can get his game together.....and when said manager does that he will be a really good striker.

I cant see it happening, he has always looked a bit of a donkey and his good performances are few and far between. He just doesnt have the game to score goals and isn't smart enough to score them. its good to see his ambition, but the performance last season where he owned sol campbell was just a one off and not an example of an incosistency problem. Thats just what i think, i have tried to like him, but he has never done anything over the course of even a few games that makes him seem like he can perforrm at the top level.

Luque
Hi,
Luque will be ideal for the Magpies tho Freddy is tight and he has not the courage to buy him. He has offered 7.5 million, not enough do, they want a good striker , they will have to fork out for him!. To get into the top 6.

I'd be over the moon if we could sign Luque. The team is shaping up pretty well otherwise, but we really need a top striker desperately. It seems to be looking pretty good right now. Deportivo left him out of their Intertoto Cup final against Marseille and Souness has revealed that the club has agreed with Luque on personal terms. Still haggling over the transfer fee though! We need to budge if we have to because he would be a great addition and time is getting short.

He should not pay more than 10m.

Surely we could get him for that, though, couldn't we?

He is clearly to good for newcastle but if you got him, it be a major signing especially when Madrid and Barca were close to getting him.

Newcastle have a giant chance to sign him now. Depor is positive, Luque is positive and Newcastle wants him. He has aslo being left out of Deportivo La Coruna's Intertoto Cup final against Marseille.
I hope the economic part will fix this, and that we get him, because now I'm impatient after a new striker.

he is more than just a striker...he is a winger aswell.
like i say...on paper he is the perfect signing....the reality of a harsh winter and a dour scot might be different.
i honestly hope not because i really want to see players like scott parker and emre succeed.

yeah..he is a great winger too..but the most important ( like the situation is in the tyneside club now ) is that he can play striker together with Alan Shearer.
Another opportunity is to buy in a other good striker, and use Luque as a wing. Dyer and Luque on the wings + Scott Parker is the defensive anker had been great. Shearer and a other new striker on top who is fast ( a Bellamy/Saviola type )

if you buy another player aswell as luque it should be a replacement for shearer....not a partner.
both dyer AND luque are great partners for shearer...so if you buy luque and another the other should be a replacement for shearer.

Luque is like Shearer, Strong and high..so it had been great with a Bellamy type anyway.
Luque-Saviola had been a great combination next season, just an example, and if they buy in a type like that now, together with Shearer, they can just use Luque as a wing.
But, I doubt that Fat Fred will buy someone at all.
