really really really harsh result where everyone tried thier hardest only for the ****in ref to spoil it. Fell sorry for souness for putting out a team that clearly imo was an equal to arsenal, and they never looked like scoring in the first half. But credit to the team, that they lasted until 80th minute and only a penalty could help them.

given, carr, parker, emre, dyer on top form are 5 of the best in the premiership.
in 2 years time taylor, milner and n'zogbia could join them in such high reguard.

atm i think boumsong, baba and shearer are good but a little weaker.

if bowyer can find/retain form he will be one of the best attacking midfielders in the league like he was for leeds.

if you could by a top striker a good winger and a defender you will be champions league material +

players that fit the bill; anelka, van der meyde and distin....they are sadly unlikely though.

I was impressed today at the effort, but the whole team looked very balanced and no-one really shone, emre/parker/bowyer looked good and the defenders played well, but the team as a whole looked quite strong and as players improve over the season, we may start getting some impressive results, providing we can find a striker.

Good to see souness gagging the players, because people take his outbursts with a pinch of salt nowadays. So for him to keep quiet shows how insenced he is imo. Still would have liked to hear an outburst tho, because it ****ed me of so much.

The Magpies did a great job today. The team is much better than last season, and they had deserved one point against the Gunners. Bennett did a wrong red card and a wrong penalty, thats off course very sad. But, there are plenty of matches again, and I was positive surprised today.

The only thing who can stop this now is injures because N'castle still have a very, very weak squad. I hope the lads will continue the performes and achievement against West Ham at St.James.Park

And also, due to the weak squad, if we play five man midfield and, say, parker gets injured souness may feel inclined to bring on amdy faye instead of leaving him in the reserves.

newcastle were excellent as a unit today, i dont think jenas deserved to be sent off, if it had been say fabregas then it woulda been a booking and a word in his ear.

emre was good, parker was superb. and boumsong had thierry in his pocket.

it was a dubious pen as well for me, the ref cost newcastle a reward for a good display defensively (yes, defensively and newcastle)!

Cant pass to save his life, doesnt get stuck in half as much as he should and just plays at far too slow pace. he tries, but doesn't pull it off. He doesnt bring anything to the team unfortunately, and i would prefer if we had someone else on the bench instead of him.

again i think your being unfair with faye...he was certainly a good passer and worker at pompey.

good back up.

boumsong may have made his mistakes last year, but he continues to impress me with his pace....very much like gallas-lite.

Faye has done nothing to impress me so far, but i hope i'm corrected later.

Boumsong did look very solid today and often does, but he leads the line very well, and has brought on taylor and bramble a lot, which woodgate couldnt do tbh. I think he may be a bit of a rock, but could do with some consistency which he still lacks a bit, but that is also down to the defence on a whole.
