Renewed Optimism?
Reading on sportinglife through transfer talk in the papers, There still seems to be a few transfer targets still active:
-As said previously owen "may have claimed" he still wouldn't say no to us.
-Coco still might come if milan pay his wages
-A few papers are saying the boa morte deal is not off, and we are lodging a firm cash bid
-Douala may still come in part exchange for viana, who i'm sure they still want.
I know this is all speculation, but its better than the situation at the start of the week. Of course i wont believe any of these until they happen, and none of them are statements from fat fred which always seem like lies to satisfy the fans. It is imperative to try and buy a striker and the chairman should be doing everything to persuade owen to come (however unlikely it is). And if the reports about coco are true then we should definatel go for him. As far as boa morte/douala, it seems souness wants a left footed wide midfielder, but i think boa morte could fill in behind the strikers or as an extra, and douala has a sily amount of pace and caused us a lot of trouble.
I'd welcome all the signings but they all seem unlikely for some reason, but its better than going into the new season with no hope like i had before.

Rumour is that Fulham have accepted a 6 million bid for Boa Morte, looks like we may have another player then...

douala....big risk, but if you can include viana in the transfer its one worth taking.

Yes hanny,I'd be cautious about us moving for Douala, he played well against us but I don't think he's even a regular at Sporting.
Much prefer Boa Morte!

According to Sky, Newcastle will make a last bid for Freddie Kanoute. A other thing I had in my mind, Carvalho is impatient and Gallas has probably taken his place. Lets loan him through the season. Had been Great with Carvalho-Boumsong.

wouldnt take too much notice about these rumours until they surface. i remember sir bobby making it clear he was chasing ronaldo a few years back, there was no way he would ever get him, but he knew the fans would go chicken oriental so it was a good move.
take more heart from the fact that you played well with a lot of commitment and togetherness at highbury on sunday and were unfortunate not to get a fair crack at getting something out the game
