Obviously similar opinions to those mentioned in the evrton thread about him. But we defiantely need a new left back because babayaro or elliott cannot be relied upon to either stay fit or perform consistently in the premiership, and i would welcome coco to the team especially if he can find the form he is capable of. I know people bad mouth the centre backs, but we have had problems defensively on the left (partly due to robert) and its good to see souness trying to solve this problem, and he's a decent free transfer signing who should help, unlike craig moore. But are we really that strapped for cash?

Looks like the deal has collapsed now, so we're stuck with crappy elliott and another sicknote of a player in babayaro

He went downhill very quickly with us after a very good 02/03 season. I put it down to the contract problems but his performances at Southampton and failure to sign for Birmingham suggest he really has just gone downhill as a player.
Maybe he will just go down as a bit of a one-season wonder?
Probably still better than Elliott and Babayaro though.

No he had two good seasons, especially since he was a converted left back, but he couldnt agree the contract with bobby or souness. But from what ive heard he was still asking for 20 grand a week less wages than babayaro is on, and at least bernard played in matches.

By Alan Oliver, The Evening Chronicle
Inter Milan have offered to pay Francesco Coco's wages so that the Italian full-back can prove himself at St James' Park.
The Chronicle revealed yesterday that the 17-times capped left-back's loan move to United had gone on ice and the club's official website later reported that deal was off.
But the word from Italy today was that Inter Milan would continue to pay Coco's £60,000-a-week wages because they have complete faith in him.
A source at the San Siro Stadium told me today: "Inter Milan have heard that Coco was coming back to them because Newcastle were not happy about certain aspects of his fitness.
"But Inter have so much faith in Coco's fitness that they are ready to pay his wages for the full 12 months he would be at St James' Park."
There was no word from St James' Park on the Coco situation at first today but frankly United would have nothing to lose giving the idea a go.
Let's hope Oliver is right.

That would be a complete bargain, even freddy would have to go for that if its true, and like you said kenneth, i really do hope the fella is right in what he's saying, but does that mean inter will want him back next season if he's successful?
