playing dyer and shearer would not be a crisis......im not denying you need a striker, but you simply must have some sort of positiveity coming into a new season.
even when ranieri was undoing most of the good work of three managers past i still kept a brave face

Not quite to the same level though.
But i agree shearer/dyer isn't too bad, but it can't be relied upon for goals, its just for a shortage of strikers, i'd have expected at least one new striker in time for the new season. But i think if we play on form, our midfield may be a good match for theirs, but i cant see our defence holding out any goals, and at the same time, athough dyer and shearer can cause a problem i cant see them scoring and getting a result out of the match.
Its as ive said a thousand times, i have no faith in souness' in game management, so aresenal will always be a step above.

No, and now souness has said he thinks we have a good chance, and ive been a supporter long enough to know when the club says stuff like that its often just to please the fans and not to complain about lack of transfers.

The board need to realise long term "big" name players do not please the fans, results do! We signed one of the worlds "biggest names" last season in Kluivert but for various reasons we had a shocking season and many fans turned on the "big" name.
For the future of the club we need to forget the whole "big name" stuff and concentrate of effective players!

At the same time though, we do need the "big name" to take over from shearer and who can guarantee to carry the forward line once he's gone. But we still need another striker who does not need the big name tag, but who can score and will try his best. I know we wont get him, but people on the site have mentioned dean ashton, who is good, but i would still prefer a big name, not like kluivert, but someone with experience who is guaranteed to perform and score goals, which kluivert never was, he was just happy for his wage.

But look beyond that and what have you got?
Amoebi---Chopra
Relegation, mate.

I dont see any goals there, dyer and bowyer have scored fa in the past couple season and shearer looked really off form/past it last season. And you cant rely on chopra/ameobi as back up, although on form they can be a threat, but chopra is unproven and ameobi only has a good performance 5 games a season, so relegation is a possiblity if they need to be relied upon for a long time.

If they lose Stinks o' Píss and Dyer, quite feasible considering Shearer's age and Dyer's notorious injury trouble, then they will be extremely fooked.
Back to where they belong the fat blubbering fcuks.

i wont deny shearer is crapper, dyer is inconsistent and bowyer is a ****.....but on top form (including even walking stick alan) that has goals in it.
would like to see bowyer get a more attacking role at newcastle...he would love it.....knowing what a lout he is he might get a bit over excited about it during the match...if you know what i mean.

bowyer has lost his finishing tho. He got into positions lots of time over the past 2 seasons, and didnt score when he should. And it happened far too often for it just to be bad luck. Dyer has never been a goal scorer, and its the question of whether shearer had a bad season or is past it.
