At the same time tho, he should have had a bigger shortlist of players, because its common sense owen wont move, anelka only been at fener for 7 months, and boa morte isnt going to set the team alight. I do blame the chairman as well but at the same time, business of them players has been dragging on, and yet we see no signs of any other tranfer targets, where for a desparate position, ui'd imagine a shortlist of 5-10.

I dont know, but souness should, even down to players such as dean ashton who are easily attainable, but all im saying is that i've always thought other than boa morte, the players we were after were a long shot, and souness has had a couple months to try and get players that are much needed. I think we could have easily made a bid for yakubu for one, but the chairman doesnt seem good with business, but for our most needed position where two players were needed, simply putting our hope on players who are unlikely to come is not good enough. i admit i dont know who to go for, but its not my job unlike souness who should know players.

It will be a lot harder and a lot is down to the chairman doing business, its just frustrating that we were one of the clubs predicted to splash the cash and bring in players, but so far we have sold a lot for next to nothing, and brought inless players than nearly everyong else, when we really need the signings. And after all of the selling, we are in a worse situation than last season, when souness was complaining.

I dont know tbh, bellamy made a huge amount of difference, and i'd take aaron hughes over baba anyday. Parker and emre are v.good signings, but at the same time, i dont know how well they will perform, and jj and bowyer did play some very good football in september/october last season. Like i said its mainly frustration, that we've weaked in the parts that need strengthening most and strengthened in parts that weren't priority, even though i liked the signings.

Squad wise its a lot weaker tho, but i just think that the team could be soooo much stronger just from a couple signings, and lee clarke and craig moore just add to the annoyance that these aren't players who've helped improve the team at all. And like i said, the midfield is better, but we could have got away with last seasons midfield if we had to, but the defence and attack is much weaker and that cost us so many points last season. And as you said earlier on, we cant rush into panic buys, but there are still some very big weaknesses in our team as the depor matches showed, and we dont really have time to accurately assess significant buys in all areas, and that will leave us either with a weak first team, or buying players who aren't right for the club. Its just, a striker should have been our priority throughout and we are no closer than we were a couple months ago. Yes the team may have a better dynamic due to a good midfield, but at the same time, we are left with the same problems as last season with a very leaky defence and no goalscoring threat.

Why would top players want to come to a club which finished 14th, got knocked out of Europe and is going to replace it's manager sooner rather than later.
We are not a top club any more. We are well supported and pay top wages but not an attractive option to the really top players.

We were definately punching above our weight trying to get owen and anelka was always going to be hard to buy from fener. We should have at least gone for talent such as dean ashton, ellington or someone like robbie keane who can perform in the premiership. I know these aren't replacements for shearer but they would have at least improved the attack and given us more options at least.

If Shearer doesn't make it for the Arsenal game, I think Shepherd will finally notice. We would have NOBODY up front.
****ing pathetic.

I know, thats the most obvious worry for any team, we have a striker crisis when everyones fit, now we only have one, and he isnt 100%, if nobody does anything, they should all be sacked.
