Great players!
When Butt, Shearer, Kluivert and Carr will be fit for fight now, The Magpies have a good squad.

Just for starters,I'm glad Babayaro has been brough in,he's more defence minded than Bernard and a better tackler.Ok so hes not as good going forward as Bernard but that doesnt bother me in the slighest because being getting goals is not a concern for us, its keeping them out.. Souness seems to be knuckling down already to round up the defenders. If we had a defence like this:
GIVEN
CARR TAYLOR BOUMSONG BABAYARO
OK, it might not be anything like the defence of arsenal or chelsea but it looks a whole lot damn better than what we have now, well on paper anyway. If you were to compare elliott, bramble, bernard and o brien to the four that i have above then
you can see difference already. I think we would be alot better, it might not be amazing but i think it would be far greater than the four that we have been using lately. I would like to see Taylor in his more natural position and give him some time there. Carr is likely to be back in the next week or so. Babayaro and Boumsong can play for us next week. I would be happy with this defence for now and see how they go

I would also like to see taylor as a cb, but after seeing some of his performances he is still too young to be given the starting position, he has made a few mistakes at the more forgiving full back position which amount to nothing but could cost goals at centre back. I would still prefer a more experienced centre back with taylor given substitue appearances in the position, but also keep bramble as he has played very well in the last few home matches just for extra cover, but sell o'brian.

Imo he's better going forward as well. Babayaro is pure class, far better than Bernard.

Bernard worked very very well going forward with robert but has look out of sorts this season, so depending on how much we get for him, i think babayaro is a good buy.

Carr - Bramble/Hughes - Boumsong - Babayaro
If we shall win something, we can't play Taylor yet. But I want him in the squad, because he is a great talent.

I'd agree with that, but hopefully we'll have another new cb by the end of the transfer window.

He's played well recently without making massivemistakes, hes found some consistency and is showing he is good on his day (still far too much of a donkey to play all the time)

Aaron hughes is consistent but not a solid centre back and although he doesnt make many mistakes, he is not a good enough centre back against decent opposition, whereas if ( big if btw) bramble stays calm and plays well he can hold his own. No matter what form aaron is on, he always looks a bit shaky

If I've got choices, I wouldn't play Bramble. He's slow maybe because of his size. He can't match those pacy attackers.
