Michael Dawson
Newcastle United Football Club manager Graeme Souness is lining up another defender.
The Scot made the first signing of his reign on Thursday, when he snapped up former Manchester United and Aston Villa defender Ronny Johnsen on a Bosman free transfer.
And now Souness has his sights set on a younger defender who he feels can become the ideal replacement for Jonathan Woodgate – Michael Dawson of Nottingham Forest.
The youngster is rated as one of the best prospects in England, and has in the past been linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Dawson has struggled with injury this season, yet he is now making good progress just in time for Newcastle to make a bid as soon as the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
"Michael is doing very well at the moment and has got to the stage where he is joining in with the other players in training," Forest physio Gary Fleming said. "He's feeling good. We just hope he continues to make the same level of improvement that he has achieved in recent weeks."
Dawson is likely to cost around £4-5million, which is easily in Souness’ budget as he aims to bring the glory days back to the North East.

If we can get him and a more experienced centre back of quality to partner him, that would be great for the defence.

he is an ideal replacement for woody if he can fulfill the potential he has and could become great, and it would be a good signing if we can get him in january.

I have a feeling we will full out spend in January on 2 defenders, 1-2 midfielders and maybe even a striker!
