LAURENT Robert picked up a Goal of the Season award on Monday - then revealed he is confident he will be adding more silverware to his trophy cabinet under Graeme Souness.
The French winger's second goal against Tottenham at St. James' Park was named as the best strike of the campaign at the Prince's Trust North East Awards Night at The Federation Brewery, and after picking up the trophy Robert told nufc.co.uk how he is enjoying life under the new manager.
"The new manager makes it very tough for us in training, but we have got off to a good start under him and I think we can say we have started our season now," said Robert.
"We have won the last three matches and played well, and hopefully we can start to move up the league now. The manager is good tactically, and I think we have seen that in the games he has been in charge.
"I am confident we will do well this season now. we had a bad start but it has got better and it is still early.
"I came to Newcastle to win trophies, and maybe this year will be our year and we can win a cup. I would love to win my first trophy with Newcastle this season."
Robert was naturally delighted to claim the Goal of the Season award, and added: "I was happy with both of my goals that day against Tottenham.
"They were very different, but both magnifique! I enjoyed them, they were good for the team, and the fans enjoyed them as well I think. To get one spectacular goal in a game is good, but to get two in the same match is special.
"Hopefully I will be here next season getting another award for another goal. It is good to score goals of course, but if I can make them for someone else with my crosses then I will be just as happy."
