Real Madrid in for Woodgate?
Real Madrid are set to make a shocking 15 Million euro bid for Jonathon Woodgate according to Spanish news Marca. Woodgate has become the target for Real Madrid to finish there summer spree after completing moves for Walter Samuel and Michael Owen. It is believed the negotiations among the three parts already are open and the agreement would be able to remain sealed in brief.
Woodgate is 24 years old of age and has been linked previously with a move to Manchester United but with Real Madrid in between the situation, it is another quite different one and the negotiations already are in motion.
Camacho has been the one that has proposed the name of Jonathan Woodgate. The technician has followed his career Newcastle and believes that is the ideal reinforcement for the center of the defence for Real Madrid. In the first conversations maintained with Newcastle, they have asked a quantity close to the 20 million euro, figure that the Real Madrid expects power lowers to the 15 million.

won't be up2 Robson
Freddy Kerb Crawler Sherpherd has made it clear who's making the decisions
Woody is a gr8 defender
imo could b Englands best ahead of Rio and Sol
but hes tragically injury prone
I think 15M euro's is derisory
I'd want more than 15M pounds

I hope that Woody stay with The Magpies.
Its a big variation to play defender in Spain, than in England. Woody is perfect for Newcastle United and PL, but in La Liga he need more ball-control.
Woody is a great player, and I want him to stay at Tyneside. Los Galacticos can look after other defenders like Coloccini, Ayala, Cannavaro etc..

You've right, but Marca exist because of the good contacts inside Real Madrid CF.
- Marca was first out with Figo, Ronaldo, Zidane, Beckham, Camacho in newer history.
Like any other newspapers, Marca is not a 100 % trustworthy source, but both them and AS ( www.as.com ) have good contacts inside Madrid.

I read on a site that the fee has been confirmed at around 14 million. I think for us its a crap sale as imo he is one of the best centre backs in europe, and we are unlikely to find a replacement of his quality who wants to play for us and who is a proven performer in the english game regardless of his injuries. If he goes we will have only 3 proper centre backs, one is still a teenager, Bramble is still very, very, very prone to error, and andy o Brien is better with woodgate as a partner and can be poor otherwise. Other than financial reasons, there is no benefit to the club, as i think he is the most prized asset at the club and we should definately not sell him.

how about Sir Bobby, is he a reliable source?
WOODGATE MOVE IS REAL DEAL
Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson has confirmed that defender Jonathan Woodgate is set to seal a £15m move to Real Madrid, subject to a medical.
Robson said he would like to keep the player but told Sky Sports: "It's a huge offer and we have to consider it.
"I don't want to lose Jonathan but it's a huge opportunity for him. He's got to complete a medical first but there's no reason why he shouldn't pass it."
BTW that is off Teletext in case you are wondering

20 million Euro, according to the NUFC.com, with the medical on Friday.
All I know is they (SBR and FS) better turn around and use this fee to pickup a replacement.

I think Woodgate is one of the most complete english defenders. He will improve Madrid especially linking up with Samuel. I take it that Helguara will move into midfield now

Very true, why we sell our best defender when we need him so much. We bought him for one reason, that is to strengthen our poor defence. ::upset::

I have hardly seen him play for you, your better of selling him and getting a player that is not so injury prone but who will that be?
Any defenders on the shortlist at the moment?

Will be extremly sad when he signs for Real, but on the otherside we can play without him.Woody plays only 15-20 games per season.Gallas is the ideel replacement now.But I don't think that Chelsea will let him go.

I read from nufc.com
Potential successors to Woodgate is Robert Huth (Chelsea), William Gallas (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Nott Forest) and Calum Davenport (Coventry City).
As expected, no big names being linked.
